Messages not displaying in inbox, effecting star seller rating

Hi, I had 2 messages from customers not show up in my inbox until days after they sent them. I check my inbox a few times a day and they were definitely not there til days after the customers sent them. One eventually appeared in my inbox, and the other in spam. An Etsy Support person told me that there is no way I can get my badge back other than just to wait it out, even though I'm not at fault for the messages not appearing in my inbox. It is extremely difficult to hide frustration with this. I rely on my star seller badge to reflect to shoppers how much I prioritize customer service, and to help with exposure of my listings since Etsy displays listings from shops with higher star seller ratings first in searches.

 

Pretty Please fix this issue, or at least come up with a way to not unfairly penalize sellers!!!

I had a message get automatically sorted to spam. I found it almost a month later and marked it as 'not spam' and responded then. I assumed I would lose the response badge at that time, but Etsy actually counted it from the moment that it was moved to my inbox, they didn't ding me for the time it spent in spam (because of their poor programming).

Is this the app?  It can be problematic.  Do you have email set up for messages?  I use it as a backup so I know there is a message.  I don't rely on email alone but I use it as backup since this can happen.

I also check spam folder daily just as a precaution.

You can answer a message in spam.  If it is a legit message that should not have been in spam then the countdown does start for SS.  If it is a spam message but you decide to answer it shouldn't affect score.  It's the legit messages that ended up in spam that cause issues.  And mostly this is because buyers tend to send out several messages at once to different sellers but the system sees it as spam from the person.

I don't believe this is true anymore. I received a message on June 26th that Etsy put in spam. I didn't find it until July 22nd, which is when I moved it to my inbox and responded (that was also a time that I had no sales, so I would just log in and double check for any notifications on my dashboard, but messages in spam don't show as a notification, because I had no sales or anything else going on in my shop I didn't take the time to double check my spam folder, just figured my shop was 'dead'). Even though it was almost a month from when it came in before I responded, Etsy did not ding my SS stats, the countdown started once the message was moved out of spam.
