I'm a fairly new shop owner and apparently my message capabilities have been deactivated. I haven't spammed anyone or violated community rules. I've filed a ticket with support, but I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue. I received a custom request today and I can't respond to it because my messages have been deactivated and I'm now losing potential sales.
Sending too lots of messages in a short period of time will cause that.
I haven't done that. I've sent one message to each buyer once an order has come in. It's so frustrating when you're trying to give someone what they are looking for and you get everything written up only to be denied.
There is no reason to send buyers a message when the buy. Etsy sends them an email. Why are you sending them a message?
OP, you can look at the order and Etsy will provide an email for the buyer. Use that email for any absolutely necessary messages. It might be a couple of weeks before the message function works, usually when Etsy decides it is acceptable.
Perhaps OP read https://www.etsy.com/seller-handbook/article/dos-and-donts-of-communicating-with/26590492608
Do communicate:
With all the reports of Etsy notifications to sellers not being delivered, are we sure it is any more reliable for buyers?
Probably so which flies in the face of what we have been told to do in the past.
Personally I let Etsy do the talking as a buyer I don't like getting emails from whom I buy from. (Except for one who is a friend)
Are you sending many in one day. Or one after another. It might be seen by Etsy as spamming. They don't take the time to investigate the why of every message. Just that it is happening.
If Etsy replies to an email and you have more questions, reply to that email.
No. I tried to send a message to a buyer to thank them for the purchase and I guess the buyer had messages muted. And I think the deactivation came after that
OP, your shop banner confuses me...
says 'shirts & hoodies from some of our favorite shows' or something like that. You know, of course, that you can't sell anything that uses the IP of a big company/brand/show/movie/etc without permission (and likely lots of fees...), right?
something I noticed.
