The only message I haven't responded to was spam. I reported it as such. How do I get my star seller rating? Right now it's showing 75% response rate (3/4) but when removing the spam, it's 3/3 100%.
I think you'll find the answer in the Admin post on this thread:
https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Message-response-rate/td-p/139137317
Etsy counts all initial messages in its calculation.
I've found that if I mark a message as spam it is removed from the count but it can take several days for the count to reflect the new calculation.
I've found that the best way to see what is counted is to go to the star seller stats and download the little message file and find the one or ones that etsy is counting as not responded to within a day and if appropriate mark those as spam. Again I've found that it can take days for the status to be updated and no longer reflect the messages marked as spam.
@GlassyFields Admin said in the thread I linked:
"Messages marked as spam cannot retroactively give a seller the badge."
Not sure if that matches with user experience, but it seems to apply to the OP.
Thanks for the input -
I wouldn't expect a star seller badge to be retroactively influenced ... but sellers can manage for the next star seller period but periodically checking their status and marking spam messages as spam. It has worked for me several times.
I think what that means is that if you have already not been given the badge for a particular month you can't mark a message as spam and then the badge update since it has already been not awarded. But if you mark it as spam and it is in the middle of a month it will update those stats so the next time you can be awarded the badge it won't count against you since you marked it as spam. Hope that made sense LOL.
@cutebutton @GlassyFields I may be reading the OP incorrectly, but she seems to be asking when she will get the star for this month, so it does seem to apply to her situation. She will not get the star rating until Sept 1, if she still qualifies then, according to the Admin's post.
@SoapBopSoaps The current star is for the period May - July 2022. The September star will be based on June - August. And just to clarify so people don't think they have to respond to every message and it will be a never ending loop: the FIRST message of a NEW thread must be replied to within 24 hours. It does not matter who sent it, the subject matter, if it is a duplicate or blank or anything else. If it is SPAM then it should be marked as such. Those have always been the rules. Etsy is now putting a blue text warning / advisory on those messages they consider to be a "new message".
