I have found that I will sometimes get people Soliciting me through my Etsy account. So I got one of these spam solicitations and I didn't respond because I was busy working with other customers. Now Etsy has dinged me for not resopnding in 24 hours. I have since marked that message as spam. How should I go about trying to fix this since I don't respond to spam
If you marked as spam even after 24 hours I've heard that the stats will update though it might take a few days but I don't know if Etsy is still doing this or not.
If the stats don't update, there're nothing you can do to fix it and Etsy won't fix it either.
I found this in the help pages under Star seller:
How to Become a Star Seller – Etsy Help
Messages sent on the last two days of the 3-month review period may be excluded from the current review period and counted towards the next period instead. This is to allow Sellers a full 24 hours to respond and not be penalized for messages received late on the final day of the review period.
Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges.
@QualityXpressDesign: If the unanswered new thread was not a Help Request it appears that marking an unanswered new thread as SPAM (even after the 24 hour deadline has passed) will still cause your reply percentage to change in a day or two (but not retroactively) if the original message was within the current star seller period.
The first time I marked her message as Spam, I did so within 24 hours and that was feb. 27th, 2024. My seller stats were 100%. Then she messaged again March 1st and I didn't respond because I had already marked her as spam on the 27th. The one on March 1st is the one that I am getting a ding for. So it happened in two different periods
@QualityXpressDesign: Was the March 1st Message from a different account (even if the same customer) or a Help Request? If the latter, then Help Requests always start a new thread and require answering within 24 hours.
"So it happened in two different periods" From a Star Seller perspective, same period (January, February, and March for April Star).
No, Not an order help request. Is there a way to share a screenshot? That might be easier to show
There is nothing in the message that differenciates herself as a different person. No photo, same name and spelling and pretty much the same message just worded differently. They are two different threads. I just didn't respond to the second one because it was the same as the previous that I already marked as spam
Did that newer message come to your inbox as a new thread? You need to mark anything new as spam (or answer it, of course.)
There are a lot of scammers calling themselves Etsy Support and sending basically the same messages. That doesn't mean they're all from the same sender.
You have to reply to each new message thread, or mark as spam.
There would have been a blue highlight, and a new thread,
If you mark it as spam, it should be calculated as spam in the next calculation.
