I recently created an Etsy store and so far just have one digital product for sale that's made to order. When I received my first order everything ran smoothly however upon receiving my second order Etsy automatically marked it as complete before I'd even seen it. Despite everything being set on my end as the product being made to order, Etsy had changed the listing to instant download.
When I contacted Etsy support they said it was likely because I didn't have a processing time selected in my shipping profiles however when I go to set it all I can do is set the order processing schedule, there's no option to set a processing time and as far as I can see the delivery profiles only apply to physical products not digital ones. I somehow managed to fix the listing so it appeared as made to order again but I'm unsure how.
I've received two more orders since then, the first went normally but the second I received this afternoon suddenly went straight back to marking itself as completed and the listing has changed again to say it's an instant download when in the backend it's still set as made to order. I know I'm still a small shop with very few orders but this is looking extremely unprofessional and I'm worried about being able to build up my shop when my listing keeps bugging out like this and the option to set a processing time for my item doesn't appear to be available for me.
It's a glitch.
There is no processing time for digital listings, etsy were wrong to say that.
It's related to the new/old listing format, and every time it sells, can glitch out. Try editing it in the OLD listing format. It should fix it, but it can keep happening when they have these weird things that glitch between the formats (the other one is domestic/global pricing).
I’m facing the same issue and they are not helping me through customer care chat. They want me to wait for an email for them while my client is not able to review my service bought by them
