Lost a Star Seller Badge for no reason

Jump to solution

I've just noticed that I've lost my Star Seller badge, although I've met all necessary criteria for February.

I have digital items only, and I have one opened order from private listing, placed on January 29, which is still long before due date. This is the only thing I can think of that could cause me losing a Star Seller status, although the "shipping" wasn't due in January.

Could you please look into this?

Live chat is still an option even if you don't have the star. It just depends on the issue as live chat can only handle some issues.  There is also email support.  You have to go through the support ticket system to get help from support.

There is a direct link to the support ticket page in every shops shop manager - Just go to Shop manager > Community & help > Contact us

That will open the page to start a support ticket. Once there select 'selling on etsy' then select issues.

Depending on the issue, they offer email, phone and/or chat support. Note that the phone support option recently changed to a request a call back system. There is no direct number sellers can call for etsy phone support. You can only request that they call you back.
You will need to click around a bit to get to the actual page with the contact options and at times it feels like endless maze loop of clicking and getting nowhere other than faq's that do not address your issues. You will need to get creative and click on options that may not match your issue completely. When you see 'I still need help' at the bottom of a page then click that....it will take you straight to the page with the available contact options.

Keep in mind that the phone support and live chat folks are just a call center and can only handle a limited list of issues. Everything outside of that they will bump up the support chain to someone who works for etsy proper to handle. Live chat and phone call back are only available sometimes it seems and the availability changes throughout the day.

Remember...the key is to click 'I still need help' when you see it.

Keep in mind that it may be a waste of time as they have made it clear that they won't make any changes to star seller bits.

I know that the Help Center says to post here for help. The phone support and live chat support folks both say the same thing but it's just us sellers here. The live chat and phone call back support people are just a call center. They are very very limited in the issues they can help with and pretty much just repeat what's in the help center articles. Unfortunately the Help Center article says the same incorrect thing- to post here.

Here is the link https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403058372503-How-to-Become-a-Star-Seller?segment=selling

it says "Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum."

But they changed this to a peer to peer support forum a few years ago so it's just us sellers here sadly. Occasionally an admin will pop in if there is a major issue going on but generally it's just us sellers. If you need more help from etsy support you will need to contact them again but this time use the email option. That is the only one that will get you to an actual etsy employee vs the call center folks.

Thanks for the heads up! However, as I've lost a Star Seller badge, I don't have access to chat any more, and I'm quite sure that there is no any email that we can write to. I'm not in the US, so calling is not an option. Do you have any contact with Etsy?

You are missing the messages badge.

Download your message history to see which one you missed.

No-one here can look into it, and Etsy will not adjust badges after they are awarded.  We are just sellers like you, we can only suggest what might have gone wrong.

Did you meet the minimums for sales and revenue?  If not, you can't get the badge.

Download the shipping csv file to see exactly which order was marked down for tracking/prompt shipment.

All of my items are digital, so no shipping at all. Only this one was private listing, so it had to be with "shipping", but it's not due yet.

Do you know any way (except phone call) that I can contact Etsy?

It won't do any good to contact Etsy, they will simply refer you to the forums.  They will not "fix" errors after badges are awarded.

If the order was a custom order, and listed as physical, Etsy requires tracking, end of story.

But from @PlatypusDream 's post above it appears that what you are missing is the message badge, not the shipping one.

I'm "missing" shipping badge, but only this opened order is with "shipping".

Thank you all! As we cannot solve this issue alone, I'll try to find a way to contact Etsy.

@BootifulLabels How could another user possibly know that I'm missing a message badge? No, I'm not missing a message badge, and even if it was a physical item, it is not yet due for "shipping".

We can see the badges you do have on your shop page, that's how another user would know what you're missing.

How could another user possibly know that I'm missing a message badge?

Once you reach the minimum sales and revenue targets, Etsy displays messages in your shop front that show any of the three main criteria you have achieved as smaller badges, even if you don't get all three.  I checked and your shopfront shows you have the Rave Reviews and Speedy Replies, but not the shipping one.  I think Platypusdreams was mistaken.

@DigitalAnnouncements  That's great. Good for you! I was only letting you know how another user could see what you have and don't have. It does appear they saw it wrong, but it sounded like you had no idea that anyone could see any of that information at all.

It's quite possible Etsy ended SSR accounting for the month of January on the 27th instead of on the actual end of the month (31st) ... this happens EVERY month and always messes up the SSR.

"This is the only thing I can think of that could cause me losing a Star Seller status" If you look at the CSV file available on your Star Seller page you will know for sure which order(s) Etsy thinks there is an issue with. If this is for the February star, look at the previous period tab.
