I put my shop in vacation mode for June due to surgery. I received a message from another Etsy shop and now my response rate dropped to 88%! My shop was on vacation mode so how did this happen? How do I get this fixed?
When you put your shop on vacation, you have the option of adding an auto reply, so people know what is happening with your shop,
the auto reply counts as responding
But ... "Auto Reply" has to be re-set every 5 days. It is a real PITA
Not when you go on vacation mode, there is a place to put an autoreply, and the vacation autoreply stays, all the time you are on vacation
The 5 day auto-reply doesn't apply to vacation mode.
If you need to set an auto-reply for longer than 5 days, consider putting your shop on Vacation Mode.

Scroll down to the How to Set an Auto Reply section.
Uh oh! I'm so sorry that happened! In the past - I'm 99% sure - when we turned on Vaca mode there was a generic auto-reply for messages that Etsy put up. That is not the case, and we need to write something in there, or there is NO auto-reply at all!
@CarpetCollectionAU When in vaca mode, you don't need to do that ever 5 days - it will stay on as long as you are in vaca mode.
@WhiteBarnThrift You can mark the missed convo as spam retroactively, and it should bring back your Star Seller metric.
@WhiteBarnThrift This will help only for your star seller status : put the message in your spam and you will get your status back.
@CarpetCollectionAU thanks. I didn't know that the automatique reply had to be re-set every 5 days... I will pay attention to this when I'll close my shop for vacations.
Autoreply on vacation stays on the whole time you are on vacation.
it's only the one on the messaging system, when your shop is open, that has a 5 day renew
Thank you all of you ! So I understood it well first time.
On vacation so you saw the message you created for the announcement and the email? Mine is working as it should. I got a few messages and the auto repsonse went out so my stat was not lowered.
