Legit messages getting sent to Spam folder

Jump to solution

Have other sellers been seeing this as well a LOT lately? I will be messaging a client (I sell wedding invites so we message a lot before they make the purchase), a few days go by and then notice that the message went to spam. I noticed this happening last year 3rd and 4th quarter, so now I purposely login on a web browser so I can access the mysterious spam folder.  I just checked the spam folder yesrday (twice!!), and there wasn’t anything, now this morning there are 2 messages from 2 days ago! So where did they go for that one day if they weren’t in my inbox or in the spam folder?

I am super frustrated by this. I’m trying to save my business and not lose potential clients because of AI sending my messages to spam when they are not.

Etsy!!! Please please PLEASE allow us to still get our spam messages in our main inbox. You could even put a banner on those messages that you flag as potential spam. Some sellers are very discerning and can easily spot a spam message. If you are concerned about the many sellers without discernment, you could make a quiz we have to pass before getting this option, lol!

Last year I missed out on 3 very large orders because of this spam nonsense.

What’s the point of marking a message as spam midway through a conversation?!?

I agree, this is super frustrating. The worst is when the messages just don't appear anywhere for a few days and then end up in spam. I have not had that happen yet, but have had one where an ongoing message went into spam at one point.

Send a message to Etsy and complain. See one of the mod's replies here and my response in case that helps - https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Conversations-being-marked-as-spam/m-p/147271340/high...

Yes just noticed one in my spam, I told myself I would check on the spam folder often, but haven't been on my computer in awhile, just using my etsy app. Of course it was for potential big order as well. Hopefully they respond back. No indication that it would be a spam conversation at all. Makes me come off as incompetent.

If the message from the buyer goes into our spam box, it's not too bad, we just need to check our spam folder often, or always use a web browser.
But what's worse is, when we reply to a client's message, our message goes into their spam folder, and finally the client doesn't know that we have replied to their message. And 80% of us have lost the buyer right away, unless the buyer uses a web browser.
The solution is to display the spam folder in the Etsy application, just like in a web browser.

I just try and check my spam folder a few times a day. I have not had any end up in spam since the Holidays, but I know they are coming.

Ive heard that on some selling platforms they charge extra for sending real messages to spam. We are just so lucky. LOL.
