Legal name change - has anyone been able to get their shop back???

Like so many others, my funds are frozen and Etsy has threatened to completely shut down my store because I updated my legal name.  I've sold here for over six years, and always been conscientious of their policies.  I've reached out to Support with no success.  They transferred to Trust & Safety, who only send me the same canned response every 48 hours that Etsy accounts are not transferrable, regardless of my responses and uploading the appropriate documentation. I finally contacted their legal department on Monday but have yet to receive anything other than an automated response.  Has anyone had any success in getting Etsy to address the issue or is it completely hopeless?

I am not sure but I think Etsy used to put a 7-10 hold on funds for change of information…I am not sure if that is what is going on 

if that is the case every time you change/edit something the hold starts over. So don’t try to change it again

I haven't uploaded any additional information in over a week.  Just going back and forth with support but they only provide completely irrelevant responses.  I suspect AI & keywords are in play.

Does your new legal name match the name on your bank, credit cards, etc.?

Seems like there would be a way to change your legal name on Etsy since people's names do change for a variety of reasons. I hope @StoneHorseCeramics is correct and that it's a temporary hold.

If Etsy thinks you are transferring your shop, have you provided evidence that shows that you are the same person with name change?

I didn't even think to check my card & bank account info, as I updated them with the bank ages ago. At this point, support has been so terrible I'm turning quite cynical, but it's worth a shot.

Did you ever solve this?  My account was hacked years ago and the person put their name on my seller account.  I am trying to sell now and trying to remove their name and put my name on my account.  The new bank I attached is in my name, but still shows their name and everytime I upload my passport with my name it says "It looks like we couldn’t verify the recent update you made to your primary taxpayer name".    Support via email has been unhelpful.   I am not sure who to speak to so I can get this information corrected.

When I opened shop 16 years ago I signed up 2 of my shops with the owner as me and my husband and my social security number. Now  the accountant said I need to get his name off my 1099K and all I hear are these horror stories. I am unsure if I even want to attempt it or scrap thousands of sales and reviews and sales data and transfer listings and start over...it is SO ridiculous that a simple edit would put me in this place of anxiety.

I'm  honestly probably going to leave Etsy over this.  Not only do they threaten to close down your shop, but they also freeze all your current funds so you have no access to them.  It's terrible!!!

Talk with support, they are helpfull.

When i added  my business number i also changed the order of my names, first name, last name switch, as it was on my card and i got my account frozen. 

All i had to do was to prove its me to support and to explain the change i made by mistake.

I advise to not change anything before you talk with support because you will get the yellow banner.
