Items getting double posted and being charged for each.

Jump to solution

Hello, I’m new to Etsy.  I was trying to list 2 different items, and after I had inputted all information, I hit the “Publish” button and a pop up came up asking if I leave the page, I would lose all the information.  I selected “Stay on Page” and it took me back to the top of the form.  When I finished reviewing, I hit “Publish” again, and received the same message.  I went through the process again, and after receiving the message for the third time, I opted to leave the page. When I checked my listings, it had listed the exact same thing 3 times (for one of my items) and 2 times (for a second item).

I deleted the duplicates, but just looked at my statement and I have been charged a listing fee 5 times for 2 items.  Who do I talk to about getting the three charges reversed?  I have since cleared my cache and cookies and it seems to be doing okay.  Thank you for any assistance.

@Former_Member: As mentioned, it is unlikely that you will get the charges reversed. You can always deactivate the two extra listings, edit them with the information for your next new listings and publish the "changes".

You probably won't get the charges reversed (sadly). I posted about this yesterday with renewing old listings and being charged twice, but it seems that etsy is happy to charge you and take your money but has no interest in actually fixing the problems their site is causing. They chalk it up to "user error" and claim everything is working fine, even when it clearly isn't. It is still having an extreme lag. Renewed listings that should appear in active listings immediately get booted back to being inactive only to appear active hours later and being charged for as many times as you attempted to renew it. I haven't listed anything new in a few days, but it is sad to hear you are having problems with that as well. Hope etsy decides to care, but just seeing as how nothing has been fixed since I tried to bring this issue up.. it seems doubtful. Here's to hoping though!

Etsy can be correct.  With mouses and stick pens, if held too long or slipping sometimes that can cause a charge twice.

If I renew I check the shop payment page to see if the item was renewed and then I don't touch it again that day.  Usually the next day it is renewed.

Yeah all sites can be glitchy at times.  Etxy is no exception.  I have that glitchiness on other sites and even when I worked for large coorporations the same glitchiness.  Computers come close to sentience at times and can be cantankerous.  The old cartoon that had computers saying 'wee meet at midnight, pass it on' is funny until you realize that computers do seem to have a mind of their own.

The pop-up sounds like something from your computer rather than Etsy.  One way to check is to open up a new tab and then check the shop payment account.  If you have been charged then don't create a new listing.  Leave the page and then go to your shop.

Unfortunately we are told that any publish is for the .20 and is not refundable.

However you can reach out to Etsy, explain your dilemma and ask for them to credit.  Sometimes they will do this.

Thank you, that is a great idea to just deactivate and change it for the next listing.  I appreciate both responses on this thread.  Good to know there’s a resource!  Enjoy your day.

Thank you so much for your input, I think waiting a day is a great idea if it happens again!

You may have an issue with your keyboard or mouse. If your mouse is malfunctioning, it may be thinking you are clicking twice? Sometimes a low battery in a mouse could do this.
