So this is pretty darn strange. I got a message from a potential client, saying he was trying to buy an item that was $ 100.59 but when he goes the check out its over 200.
I responded almost immediately. I mentioned that that was strange, and asked him what item it was, as he provided no link or name of the item
I think the thing that's even more strange is that he's not responding. I would have thought that they wanted an answer since they asked a question. Very strange.
Maybe he realized it was his error and is embarrassed now?
A few things I'm thinking it could be:
Shipping to a far off land
Didn't realize he had items in his cart from multiple shops and was looking at the grand total
Was hoping you'd just send him a coupon for $100 off
Yes I kinda thought he might have more than one item in the cart too, that would explain it.
I had also thought it might be international, but people see their own currency when using etsy, so I'm not sure it's that.
And yes, that thought went through my mind, that they might be looking for a, sneaky discount, however I really think most buyers are honest
You know--people on here talk about being "ghosted" so many times I wonder how long they have actually waited. I.E., I only use a computer so if I am gone from home then I won't even receive a message until I return home. As I mentioned in another post I had an accident 6 weeks ago and spent 5 hours in the ER, plus the travel time so I was out of touch for most of a day. Then yesterday I had surgery and even tho it was "day" surgery I was gone for most of the day. People , in general may be used to being answered instantly but I sometimes ask a question and walk away from the computer for hours at a time.
All that said--I generally will give people anywhere from 48 hours and sometimes up to a week to answer, depending on my mood! LOL.
How long has it been?
Well it's been a couple of days now, still no answer. I get it that people get busy, but it's strange when you answer right away with no response.
With it being Christmas season I think 48 hours is plenty of time.
