Item Listed Immediately Deactivated By Etsy???

I just spent over two hours writing a listing for an Antique vase, here's the title:

"Awaji Pottery Buttress Handle Vase, Brown and Green, Organic Form, Arts & Crafts, Art Nouveau, Rectangular Collar, 4 Architectural Handles"

Can anyone tell me why it instantly was deactivated by Etsy?

How strange.  I can't see anything in the title that would trigger a bot, but I'm sure someone will figure it out.

As an aside, if you're typing directly into the description box, is there anyway that you can write your descriptions to a saved file?  And then copy and paste it into your listing?

Did you use the word amber?  That hits the bots immediately.

I did use the word 'amber' in the description. Didn't know amber was on the 'don't use' list, missed that one. Why is it out? Thanks

I just had a glass pendant necklace immediately deactivated by Etsy no clue why? I came here searching for an answer, read your reply and I had indeed used the word amber to describe the colour of the glass pendant. I had to create a new listing, but did the exact same just exchanging the word amber for orange and it listed immediately with no problem. So thank you very much for your comment. You taught me something I did not know and that helped me solve my problem. Its odd as I have listed Amber rings and brooches in the past without the same issue? Odd... lol

Etsy prohibits amber beads of a particular size because an baby choked and tragically died on an "amber teething necklace" so now they set an "amber bot" that has been removing anything with the word "amber " in it willy nilly..even if it is not in a jewelry or baby category...for no real reason as nobody is endangered by amber glassware or pottery but apparently they don't know how to set their bot filter.

The word amber is out because etsy was sued because someone sold an amber bead teether or other item and died.  Etsy lost the case and amber has been removed whether or not the items are intended for babies or adults or is just a color description.  Someone named Amber had her shop suspended because of this.

OMG I did not know that ! How horrible that a baby died. I see listing for so many things for babies that make me shudder at the choking potential. Terrible for that family, when the heck did that happen ?

OMG  I've gone through the listing and changed out the dreaded 'A' word to dark honey but it still won't let me list the item. Once it's been deactivated is that it? Do I have to completely relist this now?

You can copy the listing then edit and activate it. But it looks like Etsy's listing system is having techhnical problems right now

You can copy from the deleted listing and paste it into the new listing to save some time. Just make sure Amber isnt in the description or tags.

The word Amber is hit and miss. It is no guarantee that it will get permanently deactivated. I sold an amber glass light fixture a while back.

And last week I had an item removed with Cuban in the description. I knowingly took the justified risk. It was a Cuban story published in Mexico. It got deactivated. No email notification. I contacted Etsy support with my supporting materials. Next day it was reactivated - but again, no email from Etsy. 

Your item my be under scrutiny checking the context with the word Amber and may be back soon. Hopefully, Awaji pottery is beautiful! If not clap back at Etsy and get your 1.5% extra in value added customer support!

I had a listing deactivated too immediately. I make stickers and have no idea why. The email they sent said it was being reviewed for counterfeit. That really makes me laugh because Etsy is 95% copyright infringement. They would shut down if Disney alone made them delete all the items. I contacted support right away and they just pushed me off to another department. So I’m in limbo waiting to see what kind of BS I’m going to have to deal with

Etsy has a lot of counterfeit, and they do de-list items, and shut shops completely for it,

unfortunately more crop up, than are being shut

They have recently started to crack down more, and hired more people to concentrate on this, so hopefully things will improve...........

counterfeiting seems to be their big push, This is from their latest report

In 2021, Etsy executed 124,237 takedown reports submitted by third parties that complied with our IP policies, a 129% increase over 2020,
and we removed a total of approximately 1.1 million listings, a 105% increase from 2020.
Etsy also removed 346,408 listings in 2021 for counterfeiting violations, a 3,148% increase over 2021.
We closed 27,979 shops for repeat infringement and counterfeiting violations, a 71% increase from 2020

Etsy say they have recruited another 50 agents, just to review listings, and they expect to review an ADDITIONAL 50,000 every week.

Just happened to me for a vintage shirt. I got an automated email that was very non-specific.

Was there graphics that used a TM? Was it a designer shirt? Bots are deactivating a lot of things lately

@hopeandjoystudiosno, it is decorated with flowers and polka dots. The brand is Land 'n Sea, so it's not a designer brand prone to being flagged. Even so, it's a 60+ year old shirt.

This isn't the first time a vintage listing got flagged for really no reason only to get reinstated a few days later. It's just so frustrating and nerve-wrecking.
