Item Category Choices Are All Wonky

Hello-

I'm trying to list a pair of women's shoes, but when I type women's shoes in the category box, I get skirts, men's loafers, picture frames, etc. Anything and everything except "women's shoes". Not sure if this is a glitch in my system or if others have experienced it. Is anyone else having issues with category choices when creating a listing?

Thanks, Michelle

@ChellaMiBellaVintage: There are quite a few threads in this forum about your issue. You may want to look at https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/How-to-find-the-correct-category-on-the-new-listing-f... for some potential workarounds.

Unfortunately, that link doesn't work and I'm back where I started. No category for women's shoes on my desktop app.

@ChellaMiBellaVintage

Google "etsy category list." That's how I found the link.

Or try this:

I was  having the same problem with crochet or knitting..It finally worked after a long time trying.  Might be a silly question , but here goes, did you try typing women's shoes in the category box?

I am glad to know I am not alone. Yes , definitely having the same problem since yesterday.  I am getting some very weird options.

Yes, I see the list of categories and sub categories, but I can't use them or click on them from the list. And when I go to the "Category" section of my listing and type in "women's shoes" or "pumps" or "footwear" or even "shoes", I get everything except shoes. I just need to know what to type in the "Category" box to bring up shoes.

Spoke to Etsy and they suggested switching browsers, which I did, and now everything is back in order. I found women's shoes.

Re: Item Category Choices Are All Wonky

I found a work around, that works similar to the old form, by leaving the title blank and picking the category first.  You do have to scroll through the page to the category portion and input a general category first, to bring up the scroll for your items.  For example ... I put Home Decor, then scrolled through until I found Seasonal.

This only worked when I took the title out of the listing.  Obviously AI is generating the categories that show up from your title and ERRONEOUSLY at that.  Also, what I found creating a listing this way is that the variations show up and you can fill them in without having to scroll back up (a STUPID design flaw of this new page) as the category is already filled out, so it actually speeds up the listing process by filling in the category first.

Hope this helps.  Let us all know if this works for you, or if you find any better tweaks while testing this out!
