Hi! I'm a seller from India with a new shop. As per new policy, domestic payments in India are paused but international buyers can buy using their paypal account. I wanted to check if this is working so I asked a friend to see if their payment is going through but they got the message - '
“We’re sorry, the merchant doesn’t accept payments in your currency. Please return to the merchant and choose another way to pay”
It goes right to the screen to login to my Paypal account. Short of actually making the purchase, I didn't get any errors. I am in the US.
Was your friend located in India or using an Indian bank with Indian currency? If so, perhaps it is the domestic block issue that is the problem? Presumably, if they are not allowing domestic PayPal payments in India, it stands to reason that may prevent buyers outside of India, but using Indian currency bank accounts, to purchase either.
I'm in the US and I went to one of your items and clicked to buy it and everything seemed to work as I went all the way to entering my paypal account # and it definitely looked like the order would go through. Must have been a glitch or something when your friend tried.
Is your friend also located in India? In order to accept orders from your own country, you need to enroll in India Payments. The buyers would also need to have their currency set to INR.
I’m having the same problem. My Etsy shop is from Brazil and buyer is also buying from Brazil. Idk what to do. Already checked my PayPal setting…
@CamiFranca This is an old post, Have the buyer check her settings with PayPal. Is she using a browser or the app? If the app, is her app up to date.
Have her check her settings on her account in Etsy as well.
I don't know if the use of PayPal in Brazil has any special restrictions on use. PayPal differs among countries.
What region and currency settings was your friend using?
I was able to add one of your items to my cart with no problems or error messages. Region: UK, Currency: GBP (£)
