I recieved an email that someone ordered from my shop and paid already, but they didn't get a confirmation or any status on it. I was confused because I always get emails when a new order comes in and it shows in my manager there is no new orders. Is this a scam?? It looked too real as the site link looked exactly like Etsy. This genuinely has me worried because I have opened the link multiple times out of confusion. It is asking me to confirm the order my putting my card information on it.
Hello,

Total scam. Don't give them your CC#.
Probably. The scammers are getting more sophisticated all the time.
Newest scam: They place an order that pends, but this sometimes triggers Etsy to show 1 order on your dashboard even though the order isn't in "Orders". Then the scammer contacts you saying they placed an order, followed by a FAKE Etsy email saying Etsy needs you to confirm XYZ in order complete the order. They will direct you to a FAKE Etsy site and get you to put in your credit info or bank info, and then they clean out your account. The pending order eventually gets rejected, but that little number is enough to convince new sellers that they have a REAL order.
No sale in your orders section, no money in your shop payment account, and you don't have an order.

The scammers are very, very sophisticated. Their attacks have advanced since last year. The English grammar is also better (AI?). Always be on alert for *every* message you get. Always be skeptical. Not just on Etsy, everywhere.
@bradgoodell My bank advised me to bookmark my genuine online bank sites, and NOT to go in through Google anymore! I've done that to all of my accounts now. Apparently the fake bank sites look real!
I received an email spoofing CapitolOne that was SO incredibly realistic that I can understand why people would fall for it. It even had all the fine print that you see at the bottom of real messages.
Yes, always go directly to the site through your own bookmarks, not through links in an email. Too easy to be scammed.
You don't need to pay to confirm an order. This is a scam.
Always navigate to your shop through a bookmark you create yourself or by typing etsy.com into your browser. If you have the seller app you can get to your shop that way too.

@AstarPNGs Yes, you have been hit by scammers, and I'm sorry about that. They tend to target new Sellers, often appearing within seconds after someone lists an item/s. It makes me sick to see this happen to people; I have been seeing an increase of new Sellers coming to the Forum for a while now; being bombarded with Messages from scammers. You don't expect to start fresh on a site, and immediately get hit with this garbage. And as a new Seller, I can see where you could be caught by it; it could happen to anyone. Scammers are everywhere, but there is an infestation of them here.
Many scammers are posing as "Buyers", stating they need your email for an Order. They don't, Etsy already has it. They are trying to get you to input your banking info, so they can steal from you. When you receive a LEGIT Order, it will appear in "Orders" (Left Column of Shop Dashboard); it will also show in your Payment Account. if it isn't there, you have no Order. Mark the scammer's Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller). And never click on links or engage with them.
"Verification" is a popular scam, as well as posing as Etsy Staff/Support, etc. Scanning of QR Codes is another. When you receive a LEGIT Message from Etsy Support/Staff, etc., it will appear in the "From Etsy" Folder (in Messages). If it isn't there, Mark the Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller). Messages which pose as Etsy Support (or Staff), should be easy to ferret out; bots should be able to pick up on those, and yet they are still coming through.
Re: Marking a Message as Spam. For the first time, I recently had cause to do this. However, I saw nothing by Messages which said "Mark as Spam". I had no idea where to send the bloody Message. Finally I saw "Report", and clicked it after selecting the Message (and yes, it should say, "Report as Spam" or "Mark as Spam" (or how about "Spam" if character space is an issue).
