Is there a bug in the algorithm?

Jump to solution

10 days ago I received an email apologising for the inconvenience for multiple listings that were taken down for a "policy violation." All listings were promptly reactivated. Today, I received another email informing me that Etsy removed those same listings for a "policy violation" yet again. Is anyone else experiencing this?

As much as I love the Etsy platform, this is incredibly frustrating. Would appreciate someone from Etsy to please take a look at this.

When they take listings down like that, in my understanding it's bots doing it.  Then if they find it wasn't legitimately taken down, they're put back up.  To have the same listings taken down TWICE is utterly ridiculous.  And I'm sorry it's happened to you.

Etsy has had many glitches as of late from what I've seen.  And sorry to say, they won't answer your post in the Forum.  It's Sellers helping other Sellers.  You would have to Contact them (either in your Shop Manager > Community & Help > Contact): scroll through the problem that best fits yours.  If one does not exist, keep clicking until you get to "I still need help".  You will come to a page with Email, Chat, Phone.  (Chat and Phone is not always available).  But if you get it, good.
If you receive an email which does NOT address your issue, Respond back to that email (don't start another one, opening another ticket).

Another way you can contact Etsy.  In Help (for Sellers), select Contact Tab bottom of page (go through the same motions as above).  Some Sellers have said they've selected Help "For Buyers" and gotten a quicker response.  I can't speak personally; I've not contacted them.

But I really hope you get this resolved.  It sounds like the bots are a bit brainless.  Good Luck to you.

You have previous threads to this.  I do think use the K95 wording is what is causing this.  It is a trademarked term.

You are not making the K95 mask.  That is medically impossible as the fabric is not to be had by people not in the medical garment industry.  You are making masks in the style of.   Or are you masks of medical grade if so then perhaps the term use would be okay.

As for the ring.  I don't know.  Personally I don't like the ID because too many people are lying about their status of being vaccinated.  But that is personal and probably not something Etsy would be interested in.

You will have to contact Etsy for an explanation as to why a 2nd time.  Do they see wording that is medical hence the 2nd takedown or have they received notice which should have been forwarded to you in your email.

I don't know,

@BreatheBold

Yep, I have 1 listing that has been deactivated by the bot 5 or 6 times now. The bot removes it for being drug paraphernalia which it clearly isn't. It's a fleece throw blanket...a blanket haha.  Once a human reviews it they promptly put it back up. The last time it happened I got a bit irritated and contacted support. You would think that once a listing was cleared by a human then it wouldn't happen again. They told me they were working on preventing it from happening again once a listing is "cleared". My listing hasn't been deactivated again since then but it won't surprise me if it happens again.

"Would appreciate someone from Etsy to please take a look at this. "

Sadly it's just us sellers here.  They changed this to a peer to peer support forum a while ago (couple of years ago I think). If you need help from etsy you will need to contact etsy support directly.

@WitticismsRus

You're faster than me.  And good grief, it happened to you 5 or 6 times! I'm sorry it happened to you.  I think the bot itself is on drug paraphernalia, LOL.

I'd be ticked quite frankly.
