Is the system always accurate in calculating Star Seller criteria?

Hi Everyone, hope you are enjoying the long weekend!

I am a little confused to see that my Star Seller badge disappeared and the reason given is that "there is one order out of 4 that has no tracking info". However, I double-checked and all orders are with tracking number... Has anyone experienced this?

Sometimes the underlying data is delayed or incorrect and that makes the stats wrong. You need to check the applicable CSV file (previous period for September star) to see what Etsy thinks is late or otherwise has something wrong with it. In particular make sure that *Had processing time?* = yes, *Ship by* has a date, *Tracking/label date* has a date, and *Shipped on time?* = yes.  If the shipping company is supported by Etsy make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on the actual order. Etsy relies on a third party vendor for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order. An unsupported shipping company and / or invalid tracking number equals shipped without tracking.

Has the package been scanned? Sometimes a tracking number cannot be validated until after the first scan is publicly available.

I'm going to say no it's not always accurate.  First time ever I have had any kind of discrepancy.  My shipping was at 100% very close to the end of the month, not sure exactly which day.  Month renewed and all of a sudden I am at 97% and an order is missing tracking.  No order is missing tracking and no I do not use etsy labels.  I tried the download CSV and my computer was all what program do you want to use?  I have no idea.  just tell me which one you think is missing tracking.  my only concern with losing star seller status is that etsy will slap me with some kind of payment reserve or worse for no reason.

and btw when I was looking at the completed orders I noticed one still in pre-transit.  click through the tracking and it was delivered August 24th.  so a lot is not accurate around here.

@UppNorthCo: Exactly - the calculations are correct but the data used to make the calculations is not always correct or accurate.

2 shops here and have never used etsy labels.  both shops have been star sellers since the beginning.  touch wood, I admit some luck with the reviews portion.  you never know who you might encounter but that's a whole different issue.

SS is based on the last 3 months. Sometimes things that were counted drop off because of the current time period change. Maybe something dropped off which caused the loss of star seller.

I discovered this same issue today.  Last month, my tracking was at 100% for Star Seller.  As of today, my stats say that I have 3 orders without tracking information.  I looked through the entire month of August, and all of my orders show as having tracking.  I am hoping that it is just a blip in the system that will update later.

on the star seller stats, click "last review period" and download the CSV,

they have to be on time, with tracking,
if you enter the tracking number late, you will be dinged

I don't think that the stats are always correct.  I downloaded my stats yesterday and none of the messages I received from the 29th thru the 31st are showing on the .csv.  So I'm going to say that they are wrong.  Otherwise the 4 or 5 messages I had would be on the spreadsheet.  I really feel like this star seller thing doesn't help one way or another.  I'm not reaping any benefits from having the star.

Thanks for your input. At the beginning I couldn't see the difference having the Star Seller badge or not. But then I seem to get more views when I had it and less views when I didn't. Maybe is the type of work that people rely more on reading reviews and having something else to prove that it is worth spending the money. Since I don't get many orders per month, it makes a lot of difference if there's an issue with one order.

@Studio007Sculpts   This is a HUGE issue right now and I can only imagine how many sellers are really being impacted by this but aren't posting about it. I have been fighting with Etsy for a week to try to get this fixed and I guess unless they receive enough documented complaints they will continue to put it on the back burner.

It's not jsut having a tracking number.  That package must show in transit.  If it stays in pre-transit, Etsy considers it not shipped.

if that is the case and etsy says it is pre-transit and it was actually delivered 9 days ago, how does that make sense that the star seller rating drops?  some might even lose the star seller if they don't ship enough volume.

in my situation that wouldn't be the order that is counting as having no tracking according to etsy.  I was at 100% long after that order shipped.

That is not correct, none of mine show in transit, ever, (UK Royal mail) and quite a few are never scanned on delivery, but I still have star seller, with no scan at all

Star seller only requires a valid number entered, before the ship date
