OK. I have just been scammed by someone messaging me and claiming they are from "Etsy Staff". They ask for your email address to confirm your account. And then when they send you a link to confirm your identity by putting in your card details. This is all fake.
And the weird thing is that there is no way to report this to Etsy. They have a user with the name "Etsy Staff" trying to scam/exploit its users and there is no way to say there is a problem here.
Now, going to check my accounts to make sure nothing has gone out. Buck up your ideas Etsy.
As @Adorabilities mentioned...
you are saying the messages are in the "From Etsy" folder?
If you go to your "Shop Manager" under "Messages" then to the right side, there is the list with named "Inbox", "Order help requests", "From Etsy" and so on.
Where exactly are you seeing its from Etsy? I'm sorry as I'm not sure what you mean by your "Etsy Page"
@JacquiwithaQCrafts Are they in BOTH your “Inbox” and your “From Etsy” folder? If so, then the message is really from Etsy.
Anyone in the world can send you a message on Etsy that will appear in your “Inbox,” but only messages from Etsy will also be in your “From Etsy” folder.
So sorry you are dealing with this and your confusion is understandable. As others have mentioned, there is a subheading on your messages page that says From Etsy. Click on it and check there. If the message saying it is from Etsy is not there, it is a scam. Mark it as spam.
IMPORTANT** The From Etsy section does NOT appear in the app. You must use a browser to see it, so when you are checking such messages, do not check using the app.
Etsy rarely will send a message, in my experience, but if they do, it will appear in your inbox and also in the From Etsy subheading under Messages>Inbox.
ALSO: since you gave scammers your email address even once, they now will try to message you and can send you to a fake Etsy site for a chat or otherwise. ALWAYS check where those emails are coming from especially if you are waiting for something from Etsy. If there is a strange email address, then it is likely a scam. You can check with forum members about this - start a new thread if you are uncertain.
Yes, I got this message at least 10 times and I put it in spam, but then my profile started changing - tags disappeared, texts from listings, and today my 4.5 stars suddenly magically turned into 4 stars and without anyone to have left a review of my last orders!!!
Either someone hacked my account or someone from support is doing it on purpose!
OH no. I would contact Etsy support if you question what is going on with your account.
Go to your shop manager
- Click "Help"
- Click "Contact us"
- Select the listed options that best fits your issue & continue doing so until you get the option to click "I still need help"
You will then have the option to contact a real Etsy rep either by chat, email, or at times by phone call request. This way the REAL Etsy will let you know if you have an issue with your shop.
your review from two weeks ago is for 1 star.
you responded to it.
your review score did not magically go down.
you have had 6 reviews in the past year.
1 of them is 1 star... 1 is 4 stars... and 4 are 5 stars.
etsy only counts reviews from the past year.
Also bear in mind that Etsy does do some changes to where tags are now found in a different location then they were before in your listings. I'm not sure about your profile.
@HatScarfSetWomenMen Your most recent review is 1-star. It often takes a bit for your stars to catch up with your reviews. So that might be the reason.
@HatScarfSetWomenMen shop star rating is a running average of the previous 12 months. Therefore it can easily change from day to day without any new reviews being left.
I doubt someone would hack your account just to change your tags. If you are concerned your can inspect the sign in log in the security section of your account.
Before they gave me that 1 star apparently from the competition, my rating was 4.8. After they gave me that rating it went to 4.5 and today without anyone leaving a rating it suddenly went to 4. How is this done?
They average all reviews from the past 365 days, so one rating from last December probably dropped off.
-- I just looked, and yes, you had a 5-star review on 12/12/22.
because the 5 star rating from december 12th 2022 fell off today.
You have an error. I have 7 5-star reviews in the last year, not just 5. Only 1 4-star review and only 1 1-star review. Is it just me that can't count or etsy's rating system isn't working!!!! 7 times 5 equals 35 + 4 +1 equals 40. 40 divided by 9 equals 4.44444444444444. And not at 4.
Its for the last 365 days so it would be from 365 days prior to today's date. You would not include all of 2022.
you don't have 7 , 5* reviews in the last year
you have 4, it would be 5 if the 12th Dec 2022 was counted, as it's the 12th today, it would have dropped out today
It’s always the past 365 days. Your overall star rating can therefore change daily, depending on the amount of reviews and the amount of stars
You have received 6 reviews in the last 365 days prior to 12/12/23
20 + 4 + 1 = 25
25 ÷ 6 = 4,166
I admit that I counted 1 5-star review more because it was from 12/12/2022 and I included it in the bills, so I got the wrong calculations. I apologize. :))
:))
As we've explained, the star rating is an average of all reviews over the past 365 days.
The store you mentioned only has two reviews within that time period -- one 1-star, and the other 5-stars. So their average is 3 stars. (6 divided by 2)
I do not care anymore. I'm leaving anyway. This year they were able to complete me with no technical support, no fees and almost no sales!!! So I wish the rest of etsy would try to get out of this huge hole.
@HatScarfSetWomenMen Your work is beautiful. However, your rude response to the one star review would make customers hesitate to purchase IMO. Even if the review was totally unfair, a professional response would have been a better choice.
I don't think he's rude. Because the buyer got everything he wanted but still left this review and purposely took a poor quality picture to make it look paler than it is and blackmailed me into refunding him. I don't think etsy sellers should fall for such scammers and extortionists!
What you do mean he blackmailed you into a refund?
Etsy didn't do anything,
you said you refunded them
I'm telling you that there is no technical support this year. I wrote to them that I received these letters from the client, but they did not pay attention to me.
Can I make one suggestion? If possible use a credit card on file instead of a debit card. A credit card has more protection than a debit card.
