Recently, I have not been hearing back from customers when I ask them about orders that they have made. I think they are not getting notifications or something. I know that nowadays my email notifications about messages (formerly convos) no longer have the text of the message in the email anymore, which is very annoying. I can imagine if I were a customer, it would be even more annoying since, presumably, they aren't on Etsy every day like I am as a seller. This is supposed to be a site for handmade goods. Handmade often means customization. We need to be able to communicate with our buyers.
@MamaMadeThem - I always send an Etsy message (to officially keep things on the site), but ALWAYS follow it up with a regular email.
Click on the buyer's name on the order and their email will show.
Works 99.9% of the time.
Anyone can unselect receiving an email or a mobile app notification of a message received. It's not always Etsy's fault.
@GalleryAntiques - which is another reason to send a direct email, not through the Etsy system at all.... my customers have been grateful that I did that!
@timelapse If I have to send a buyer a message, I have always sent an email also, 95% of them replied to the email, rather than the Etsy message.
Most of the time, Etsy message notifications emailed to customers go to the spam or junk folder. I get told this time and time again by customers and they only see my actual emails to them. Try emailing and asking them to check their messages on Etsy and then reply to you there.
Many people also don't use their "normal" email address for online purchases (because of spam). Give it a few days. And make sure the subject line is marked URGENT and has detailed info in it.
Yep, I always put in the subject that it is about an order and I name my shop...so they know it isn't just a random spam email.
