I opened a new Etsy shop with the same credit card and bank account. Well, I stopped getting views after just a little while and even my ads were not getting any impressions at all. So, I emailed Etsy and immediately got an auto-reply that my email was forwarded to a specialist and I will hear back within 7 days. They said it is an "in-depth" review. I am really upset, I just now started to get sales and now this. I hope they do not ban me? Has anyone ever experienced this? Every time I send an email, I get the same auto-reply. And I sent an email from my old account, but they replied to the email on my new account? Do you think this could be just because I used the same bank? Thanks in advance!
@NXFashion I doubt it has to do with using the same bank. It could have something to do with the fact that you don't disclose both shops in your Public Profile, as required, or with the fact that most (or possibly all) of the items that you're selling in this shop do not appear to qualify to be sold on Etsy. Only vintage (over 20 years old), handmade by you, and craft supplies can be sold here. You also can't have duplicate shops, if both of your shops sell all the same items. Check out the House Rules.
They dont have the same items and I literally had the second account open for 5-10 minutes. Also, you are allowed to have production partners. I do make some products on my own, me and my mother, but others I do customize. I see many many many other items on Etsy that are the exact same as mine, I mean the same type. I'm not sure what product(s) you are referring to? Thank you for the reply, I do appreciate the help.
I have to agree with ChristmasIsLove. On Etsy you can only sell items HANDMADE OR DESIGNED by you, vintage (20 years old or more) or supplies. The items you are selling say they are handmade but you appear to be reselling which is are not allowed on Etsy. Even if you see others doing it does not make it Etsy legal, they just have not been caught yet. You may be having problem because you are not disclosing your other shops in every shop or because your items are not handmade as listed. If you do not make your items it is best to take them down before Etsy does because by violating Etsy's terms you can lose your shop/shops for good and never be able to have another shop here.
No mystery there. Your items are not allowed to be sold on Etsy but you would know that when you list your items and say that they are handmade but they are mass produced. You can easily sell on eBay though.
Did your other shop get shut down also?
Here is the worst part too when you are not honest about what you are selling--the buyer will be able to keep your items because they are, "not as described" meaning that you are listing them as handmade but they are mass produced. You are basically giving your items away for free but even worse than that is that you are paying fees for listing and selling these items, so it is costing you money to sell your items instead of making any profit at all.
Etsy might shut down your shop because you list as handmade when they are not.
I'm always amazed of how many sellers open shops on Etsy without a slightest idea of what can and can't be sold. Beware of those reselling items on your shop. They can get you in trouble.
You can’t sell items you buy at whole sale prices that are not supplies that could be the reason.
Just to agree with everyone else - You can have multiple shops on Etsy but you must disclose your other shop(s) in each of them. You can use the same bank account details however if you have had a shop previously suspended by Etsy and then you opened a new account using the same bank details then yes, they will investigate you. They probably will shut this shop because it appears that you are reselling items that are not handmade by you - which is against the terms of use (re. handmade policy). Your wholesaler is not a legitimate production partner.
p.s. Hello Kitty and Pokemon are trademarked brand names. Using these names, without the required licence, whilst claiming the items are handmade will get you into trouble with the trademark holders which can also result in shop closure.
@NXFashion one of the items you list as handmade is being sold in other shops on etsy and elsewhere online. another of your items for sale for $7.95 is available on aliexpress for .69 cents.
i only looked at 2 listings and that’s what i found. this could bring up a ton of red flags for etsy and be the reason for your account review. i’m guessing your first shop was already flagged so when you opened the second shop they shut it down immediately, but that is pure speculation
if you made these yourself and these websites and other etsy shops are copying your item and using your descriptions and the exact same photos, i would go to those websites asap and file a copyright infringement case and get them taken down. you might also want to take some videos of you making things (especially items found elsewhere online) so you can provide that to the team reviewing your account if needed.
good luck
WOW.
Handmade sunglasses?
Handmade socks?
Really?
Do you realize that there are CATEGORIES ON ETSY for all of these items?
@NXFashion Sure, there are categories for pretty much everything. There are also policies which you should have read before opening your shop. https://www.etsy.com/uk/legal/handmade
A production partner makes items designed by you and makes them exclusively for you. If that's not the case, they can't be listed as a production partner.
