Why, why, why Etsy? Two people who ordered from my shop after noon on Saturday and would be due to ship tomorrow because of the National Holiday, have now put me at 99% shipping on time, down from my regular 100%. If there is no way humanly possible to ship until tomorrow, why should I be dinged because of a U.S. holiday?

It's frustrating that Etsy does not adjust for holidays when calculating shipping times. I sell on other platforms, like Amazon and Wayfair and they both adjust shipping times accounting for major holidays. I agree with you.

When we enter 3-5 business days, holidays ARE NOT business days. This seems like something Etsy should have fixed a long time ago. They are the only online retailer I know of who does not account for holidays in their "shipping ... business days" calculation.

I'm sure Etsy will address this at some point, because at the end of the day it's not only complicating sellers order management but it's giving buyers an inaccurate estimate of shipping times.

You seem to forget that other platforms, unlike Etsy, run country-specific, localized sites.

Etsy is one worldwide site.

Etsy has never taken holidays into account. It's frustrating, but not new.

It is really stupid that they don't account for holidays, but I have at least a 2 day ship time and I extend the shipping date on any orders that fall on a holiday. It is really annoying and hopefully someday they fix it, but with their track record, I highly doubt they will.

the fix is for us to put the correct processing times in to begin with, we should all know the holidays in our countries
with 1 international site, I can't see etsy doing anything different, ever

put in correct processing days that allow for holidays, etsy doesn't like shops extending dates - beware the reserve

Worst case scenario, just print the label as if it's shipping on that Monday (holiday). People in the US know it's a federal holiday, plus you have the delivery window Etsy gives you, you can change the message to tell your customer that due to the holiday they can expect their order from (date) to (date) and just add an extra day onto the delivery estimate.

For the person who said it would be impossible for Etsy to account for all the holidays in the world.  Etsy has sellers from 234 countries. It wouldn't be impossible for someone to create software for each of these country's sellers, that includes all of the holidays that their post office closes. Not that difficult a task at all. My iphone calendar can handle it. I'm sure Etsy software creators can too.  On a brighter note, they changed my rating to 100%. It must have been a glitch. Yay!

Bottom line:  Etsy doesn't want to.  Etsy wants you to keep track of your holidays.

If your iPhone can handle it, then there is no reason for you to miss a holiday.  Just set a reminder.  Next postal holiday is coming up in a couple of weeks.    Good luck.

@SilversmithcoUSA

etsy counts uk as one country, as it's all one royal mail, but we have different holidays from scotland, so things are closed different days

switzerand has different holidays in different cantons

india has loads of holidays, and are different in different provinces,

etsy isn't going to take it all on, in one site,

even amazon doesn't,

if I sell on amazon usa site, with all uk setup and bank, I am forced with usa holidays, even though I am in UK, and ship from UK.

and if an american sets up on the uk site, they are stuck with uk holidays
