I was penalized because another 3rd party seller reached out to me asking me to buy one of her listings on Etsy. I did not respond to her because I was not interested then I checked my star seller score and the system said because I did not respond to this other seller, I was penalized. This was another seller, not a buyer, and I should not be penalized because I did not buy from someone else on Etsy. Can someone please fix my star seller rating. This is not fair to me.
It CLEARLY states right on the star seller page that you have to do one of two things, REGARDLESS of what the message was about. You either have to reply or else mark it as Spam. Had you done that it would have satisfied the bot that manages the message system. The bot doesn't read the message. It only notes if you took an appropriate action, or not.
If this was within this star seller period, you can mark it as spam now, and it may be removed in a few days.
There is nothing to fix. The system worked the way Etsy designed it to work. Star Seller says you have to respond to ALL first messages no matter who or what they are from or you can spam them if you feel they don't deserve an answer.
The star seller info clearly states every new message must be answered or put into spam.
You have to reply or spam any new message. Since what that seller sent you was an unsolicited promo, it should've gone directly into Spam.
However, after looking at some of your listings, you should be aware that Etsy may not award any badges for your shop anyway.
That's what I was thinking.
They have a lot of reading to do. If I were them I'd worry about prohibited listings before worrying about a little star.
I should not be penalized because I did not buy from someone else on Etsy.
Even if you had bought something from them, you still need to answer or spam that message. The issue is not whether you bought from them or not.
Karma.
