I's like to point Cloudflare directly to my Etsy shop. This should not be as difficult as it seems to be, as I am beating my head against the wall trying to do it. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'd like to promote my own domain, which forwards to my Etsy shop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Andrew
I think I can help you out here.
If you want to redirect your domain name (from cloudflare or otherwise) to Etsy, you need to create a forwarding rule as @BagmakerSupply suggested. You won't. however, get the benefits of page caching, DDoS protection etc on your Etsy store, as this would require Etsy to move their DNS to Cloudflare.
The good news is Etsy almost certainly already uses Cloudflare or something similar.
@BeautifulPrints3D: We don't use Cloudflare, but doesn't this explain how https://developers.cloudflare.com/support/page-rules/configuring-url-forwarding-or-redirects-with-pa... ?
Thanks for the suggestion, but I believe there is a way to use a 301 redirect (permenant) and use the benefits of Cloudflare (ddos protection, page rules, WAF, etc) on the free plan. I'll keep hacking away at it and report back if I find a solution. Cloudflare also will cache your shop and serve it if Etsy goes down for any reason. Obviously you can't make any sales, but you can still get views. Thank you for the reply!
@BeautifulPrints3D : Also found these two with a quick search : https://www.process.st/checklist/how-to-setup-a-cloudflare-dns-301-redirect-page-rules-url-forwardin... and https://bobcares.com/blog/cloudflare-permanent-redirect/ They seem to have more detailed instructions.
