They say for security reasons I need to provide them with the last 4 digits of my bank accounts associated with my business.
Does this sound legit?
I have already gone through the process of trying to change my password, which has not worked.
Could my shop have been hacked?
Anyone with similar experiences?
I have more than one Etsy shop. I am currently locked out of HiddenHollowSupplies.
Yes.
Last time I got some (actually good) help from Etsy they asked for banking details.
Etsy Community Managers and Specialists have confirmed in Forum Discussion over the past year/s that, in certain circumstances, usually related to Financial or hacking issues, Etsy Support will ask a Shop Owner to answer some security questions. The important things to remember
1) Only respond within the Etsy Platform
2) Make 100% sure you are talking to Etsy Support
3) If the request for information is not in the "From Etsy" folder or as a reply to your Support Ticket in the Help Center, then it may be a fraudster mimicking Support.
Thank you. The response I received was in response to my request for help, but I received their response in my shop email. So, I would be giving them my information via email. That's what raised red flags for me. I will double-check these things before I respond. Thank you!!!
"They say for security reasons I need to provide them with the last 4 digits of my bank accounts associated with my business.

Yes, they have done this to me several times, mostly in 2022.
I hope you can get your shop back quickly!
I've have just opened my shop today and I received a message through my seller account saying my account had been suspended and to reopen they needed my banking details and the exact money in my bank?
Is this a scam i am super worried but, haven't even had the experience of selling on Etsy yet? Could anyone help me?
That is a scam. Your shop is not suspended.
Etsy would only ask things that they could verify, in order to make sure they were talking to the shop owner. There’s no way they could know how much money you have in your bank account, so that would not be a question they’d use for verification.
Any real messages from Etsy will be in the “from Etsy” folder.
Yes this is most likely a scam. To a search on the forum for scams, there are a ton that hit new shops.
The best defensive is learn about as many as possible and protect yourself.
@DitsyyDesigns Yours is different. Yours is definitely a scam, they prey onnew sellers who might notyet be familiar with the way Etsy works.
If it was legit from Etsy, as mentioned avove, it would be in the "from Etsy" folder in your messages.
NO ONE needs ro know how much money is in your bank.
The scammers ask this, then are bold enough to tell you it's not enough and you need more before they get enough key info to clean it out.
