Re: How does Etsy support help sellers from not getting scammed for money
Etsy places this warning on every Message
"To stay protected, stay on Etsy. Never follow links to other sites, and don’t share contact, account, or financial info with anyone in Messages. Learn how to spot spam."
Not sure what else Etsy can do to protect people from themselves. These "scams" are not unique to Etsy. Practically every on-line site, every bank, every utility company etc etc experiences the same "scam" / "hack" attempts
The main issue is that these "scammers" target newly opened Shops in the hope that the possibility of a Sale or that the threat of closure will blind the recipient and coerce them into taking actions which they, otherwise, would never consider'

Re: How does Etsy support help sellers from not getting scammed for money
@Megkrush This is the third thread you've posted saying pretty much the exact same thing. The other 2 threads have received numerous responses. Posting again and again won't change anything. What it could do though is get your forum privileges removed by Etsy. Repeated posts on the same thing is considered spamming the forum.
Sorry you were scammed. Good luck.

Re: How does Etsy support help sellers from not getting scammed for money
I totally get that you're upset. Truly.
but this is on you. And since you're a new shop, I'd like to suggest that you read more of the helpful advice that Etsy provides. Including 'What can I sell on Etsy'...and 'Intellectual Property'.
IP issues would seriously harsh your mellow.

@CoquetteBath True Dat.
A good perusal of the TOUs would be quite useful in preventing this and future stumbles.

@bradgoodell and @CoquetteBath Opps...I did not look at the Shop, but a swift perusal indicates that the Etsy Message warning was NOT the only thing the OP did not read.

I concur about how swiftly it can come down too.
based on historical memory of previous situations.

Some of the responsibility is on the shop owner, no?

Re: How does Etsy support help sellers from not getting scammed for money
@SeasideRoseCreations Absolutely. No one could make OP open a Revolut account
If the OP wants to run a business, then the responsibilities for the financial decisions made in regard of that business are the Seller's responsibilities, not the responsibility of the platform they sell on.

Re: How does Etsy support help sellers from not getting scammed for money
Here in the UK we have a 159 fraud hotline number you can dial it's a bit like the emergency services no's 999/112 and 111 & 101 for non emergency services for the NHS and Police.
159 is an automated service that connects you directly to your bank's fraud department. ( UK ONLY )
If you are online and you become suspicious about a transaction or request you can dial 159 from your phone and be connected directly to your bank's fraud department.
Last time I checked there was 17 UK banks signed up to this service, Most major network providers are also signed up although calls are charged at national rate's but hopefully it will become a free service soon.
