I try to type in my email address I used to register on Etsy but it keep giving me that it is not a valid Etsy username???
What do I do???
It´s a scam. You don´t need to verify your profile. Put the message in spam.
Thank you. I have no clue!!! Are there a lot of these spam messages around?
This is a scam. Don’t respond or provide any personal or financial information. Send it to spam.

Thank you so much. I thought it was from ETSY team. I also got an email. saying the same thing. Is that scam?
@AuroraArtistBoutique if the message is from Etsy, it will be in the special 'from Etsy' section in your messenger pages. If it's not in that section, it's not from Etsy, It's a scam. Mark as 'spam' and ignore.
Etsy doesn't need your bank details or email. Buyers don't need them either.
6 days ago I received exactly the same one, I thought it was legitimately from Etsy and I wrote my email address now my account is temporarily unable I’m new seller on Etsy, I only has posted 7 item in my store I reach on Etsy support but with no answer to my actual issue they only sent some causes why my store is temporarily
@dpxkp1wj4w0o08s1 After giving your email address, did you then receive a regular email asking for your banking information? If so, call your bank asap.
Your shop appears to be open, so are you saying you cannot access it now?
I got the same thing too and was a little suspicious. What is Etsy doing about this if they tried to scam a bunch of us? Especially if it's a huge issue.
What is Etsy doing about it?
First there are multiple announcements that you should read.
Then they added a note to the bottom of everyone's messages about how to spot scams (unfortunately most people just click 'ok' without reading it, not their fault).
Then they made a big pop-up appear on your screen telling you about the new 'from Etsy folder' in your messages and to only trust messages there as actually being from Etsy. Again, not their fault if people close it out without bothering to read the warning.
They are also deleting accounts left and right, often identifying them before the shop even has a chance to respond. But part of the problem is there are millions of seller on this platform and even more buyer accounts. They can't read every message being sent, so they are using technology to flag certain phrases. The scammers know this and are constantly changing up their message or intentionally misspelling words or using weird fonts to avoid this detection.
While it did take Etsy a while to do anything in the first place, I do think they have implemented a number of things to try and help. At this point users need to have and use some common sense.
