How could I not become a star seller?

Hello, I am a seller on Etsy. Although my cargo was delivered on time, I could not become a star seller because it showed as transit in the completed section. If the Etsy system hasn't regulated this, am I now an unsafe seller?

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

Etsy looks for when the product shipped, not how long it took in transit. However, even if you shipped on time, you must use a carrier they can verify automatically to qualify. They use a company called AfterShip to verify tracking numbers. If the carrier you used is not verified through that system, your shipments will not qualify as properly tracked in Etsy's system. If you want to make sure your shipments qualify, then you must use one of the carriers that program verifies.

There is no issue with the cargo; the delivery is shown on the DHL tracking, but on Etsy, it shows as transit

In transit shouldn't matter if they were originally shipped on time.

It could be another issue. When you download the csv file, do your orders show having a processing time? If that column says 'No', you need to fix the listings so that they have a proper processing time (why it wouldn't and how you fix I can't advise, I've just seen that as a common problem).

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

I understand you, but there is no problem. I only have this problem because the completed section is not updated by Etsy

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

Orders don't need to be showing as delivered for SS.  They just need to show as shipped by the stated delivery time.  If you ship it even one minute after midnight on the day you promise to ship by, Etsy will deem it as late shipping and it will count against you for SS.  And that is Etsy time, not your time,if it differs from Etsy time.  Also, orders you ship in the last 48hrs of the month may not be counted for that assessment period if the ship by date is in the following month.  So never ship early for orders due to ship after the cut off date.

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

Has your shop been open for 90 days?

Have you had $300 in sales in the last 3 month period?

Those are also requirements.

I met all the requirements, and Etsy said it would be updated, but there has still been no update for 48 hours

@TheHandfastingCo: "I could not become a star seller because it showed as transit ..." You are misunderstanding the Star Seller metrics. Whether or not an order is delivered is immaterial for Star Seller. What is looked at is 1) did the order ship on time, 2) did the order have verifiable tracking, and 3) did the order have a processing time.

You need to check the applicable CSV file on your Customer Service (Star Seller) page (previous review period for December 1st star) to see what Etsy thinks is late or otherwise has something wrong with it. In particular make sure that *Had processing time?* = yes, *Ship by* has a date, *Tracking/label date* has a date, and *Shipped on time?* = yes. Remember that Star Seller dates / times are in UTC not your time zone.

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

I sent it on time, there is no mistake in this regard, etsy replied to me that it will be updated and I will become a star seller. It has not been updated for 48 hours.

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

I have never seen Etsy award the Star Seller badge any day besides the 1st of the month, even if there was a problem on their end that was fixed. My understanding is that you now have to wait until January for the next one.

And I wouldn't put too much faith in what support says as being truthful, especially when it comes to the SS. They are rife with misinformation. Whether it's from improper training or not being able to answer anything not specifically laid out in their scripts, I can't say.

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

@TheHandfastingCo: Etsy has been very clear that even if they update the underlying data and the Star Seller stats auto update they will not award Star Seller retroactively. What the statistics were at the time of calculation on the first of the month is all that matters.

Based on other posts in this forum, support sometimes provides 'incorrect' information, particularly about Star Seller. Whether this is because they do not understand your query or because they are repeating some artificial intelligence  generated hallucinations is a matter of speculation.

But even if they change the order to 'delivered' from 'in transit' it will not matter because delivered is not a Star Seller metric.

Have you checked the CSV file to see why Etsy thought you did not qualify for the shipping badge? The information in there is what Star Seller calculations are based on.

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

That doesn't clarify if you are looking at the current period you're working towards (meaning the one being issued January 1st) or the prior period (the one that was issued December 1st).

Re: How could I not become a star seller?

Etsy has stated there may be OTHER reasons why a badge may not be awarded ...

"Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum."   (posting there actually does NOTHING!)

However, there may be other legal reasons why you did not meet Star Seller Metrics ...

"To become a Star Seller, your shop must also comply with all of Etsy’s policies. If your shop earned a Star Seller badge or individual badges, but no longer meets the requirements for the program, we may remove them. In accordance with the Star Seller Terms, the following may result in temporary or permanent disqualification from the program:

  • your shop no longer meets the qualification criteria
  • your shop has an overdue bill
  • your account privileges were limited
  • your account violated our Terms of Use, including and not limited to our Seller Policy
  • we have reason to believe you attempted to falsely inflate your Star Seller stats

If your Star Seller badge was removed because of an overdue bill, you may be able to reinstate your Star Seller badge by paying your bill.

Learn more about why a Star Seller badge may be removed."
