Hi, I am a UK seller and due to a recent house move, I’ve kept my shop open with minimal listings for the last few months.
I’ve noticed that my shop stats no longer appear to update correctly. For example, I had a sale last night at 21:51 GMT but it is showing on my shop stats as a sale for today and nothing for yesterday? I received an email notification as normal at the time of the sale so that’s how I found out I’d actually made a sale.
My views and visits analytics also appear to update as if they are time-lagged, and they change randomly every few hours to completely different figures.
As a test, I visited my shop ‘incognito’ and the visit didn’t record until the following day.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue with stats and sales, particularly those based in the UK?
Etsy stats have always been glitchy and spasmodic
They are not designed to be 100% accurate and are only an "overview" of what is happening in your shop
Do not use them for any sort of serious analysis for your shop
I "believe" they use the time zone they are located in. This is always the case for new months stats for me - they close out a few hours before my time zone. I don't think there is anything that can be done about it - I just roll with it.
different time zones. Etsy is on Eastern Time Zone, {I think that's what it's called, been quite a few years, lol}
They always reset at like 9pm or so for me.
Use google analytics for more accurate stats. Etsy's aren't that reliable. When things go wrong I think they add the info they can where they can and call it good.
Not a sales issue - I hate when etsy's crummy timing deprives me of star seller. the crucial 5-star comes in at 9pm last day of month. but doesn't get counted in time for stats to change. I sure don't lose sleep over this - just one more illustration for lack of trust in etsy.
@SimpleSilverAndGold : Your situation is at least easy to explain - Star Seller uses UTC (not your local time zone) so 9:00 pm to you is 1:00 am the following day to Etsy and Star Seller.
As for the issue @BellaBearFlorals has, that is harder to explain. It is unclear which time zone(s) Etsy stores order data in. However US time zones are 'earlier' than UTC / GMT so that seems unlikely as an explanation. The Etsy API does not return an actual order date / time just a created and a paid timestamp but they both seem to be in UTC. Sadly, Etsy appears to have major issues with time zone conversions - we often see that on the same order page a sale at 11:30 pm will show as 'today' in one place and 'tomorrow' in another.
Thank you all for your replies and explanations, it only seems to have happened recently but I guess I’ll just have to check my emails more frequently for sales rather than rely on the dashboard notifications.
