Not having Ground Advantage in our shipping profiles for USPS must be a glitch. USPS 1st class is still showing as the shipping option but USPS Ground Advantage is not. This has multiple impacts to buyers and sellers including:
- different Estimated Delivery windows. 1st class was 1-5 business days. Ground Advantage is 2-5 business days. This impacts the calculation to buyers for estimated delivery date range.
- different weights. 1st class pushes to Priority mail after 1 lb while Ground Advantage goes up to 15.99 oz. Customers are being forced into a more expensive shipping cost than necessary.
- Etsy will be "guaranteeing" delivery by the estimated delivery window or your money back. If the window is incorrect then the calculation is incorrect.
- It is deceptive to a buyer that they are paying for 1st class service but receiving Ground service. Those not intimately familiar with the inner workings of the USPS will think "ground" is slower than 1st class and they are being ripped off. Perception is critically important when dealing with online sellers and credibility.
Given that it has been several months since USPS stopped offering 1st class package service I can only assume it is a glitch in the system that needs to be immediately rectified ahead of the holiday buying season.

Duplicate post.
Here is your original thread ........
I agree. Etsy seems to have time to "fix things that really don't even need fixing" but not enough time to replace first class with ground advantage on the listing page. Ebay had theirs changed the week USPS started using it.
can I change the shipping when it is free to the consumer? They picked the most expensive delivery because I can't choose usps ground advantage.
@MyRitzyTreasures If the shipping is free there is nothing for the buyer to select. You still mail it Ground Advantage.
If using Calculated Shipping profiles, Ground Advantage is not included in the list of services, but there is a way to enact it by selecting BOTH First Class Mail & Parcel Select Ground. You can ship up to 70 pounds via GA and it automatically includes up to $100 insurance. You can also select Priority Mail which will act as the upgrade. Any package over a pound will NOT become a PM package if you have the FCM & PSG selected. There are MANY posts on the subject! GA verbiage will not be shown to buyers at checkout, but the GA rates will be correctly shown. When you go to print a label, it will print as GA.
If using Fixed Shipping Profiles, the Ground Advantage service has been added to the list of service providers.
Can someone PLEASE help, this is the second day of not being able to figure this out, I even talked to an Etsy rep yesterday and she couldn't solve this issue.
@TheMockingbirdLoft figure out exactly what? You have shipping costs on your listings. When you get a sale, select Ground Advantage for shipping.
