Glitch when extnding processing times

Yesterday I extended the dispatch date of an order (on the desktop site) that was due to dispatch later that day as the personalisation details were incomplete and the buyer wasnt responding to any messages or email. This changed the dispatch date to next week and sent a messsage to the customer from Etsy. The customer replied to this message today, but her order has now reverted to the original dispatch date, despite showing the new dispatch date for most of yesterday, and is now marked as overdue. It has also brought my star seller percentage down.  I'm assuming this is a glitch on Etsy's side but I tried chat and was told a human would be with me shortly - over 2 hours ago! Has anyone else had these issues?

I wonder if it's because you changed the dispatch date on the day the item was scheduled for dispatch. I always thought that the dispatch date could only be changed up to the day before dispatch. Not sure if my memory is correct on that point but might be worth checking.

@GlassyFields

You can change the ship by date up til about 5 mins before the end of the day It is to ship.. The OP certainly found a glitch.

I just changed one Monday and I did it at 4:50 pm (EST) that day. On the original day of shipping.

Yes-- I have done it before that close to the original ship by date/time.  Been doing that for years now. So this is not a  thing as @BagmakerSupply refers to.  ( I don't make a habit of it-- but things happen sometimes and I have to adjust).

@theweehandmadegiftco: Obviously there is a glitch somewhere in the process for you, but at some point resetting the scheduled ship by date did not work unless you were doing it before the original ship by date. We had run into issues before Etsy finally started considering US Postal Holidays when calculating the ship by date. Unfortunately the confusion caused by inconsistent time zone conversions in displaying / calculating dates seems to continue.

Re: Glitch when extnding processing times

I have reset the dispatch date on the day of delivery fairly often (every few months) when a customer doesnt give the correct info to make the order and doesnt reply to my messages/emails.  This time, it did reset as normal and for at least 12 hours yesterday showed the dispatch date as having changed to next week. Etsy also sent out an automatic message to the customer to inform her that her dispatch date had been extended, which was why she eventually replied to me today. However, at some point overnight, Etsy changed the dispatch date back to the original date and marked me as overdue. This has never happened with any other order I have changed the dispatch date on.  I dont think the time difference would have been an issue as I think it operates on US East coast time, so I am 5 hours ahead of that. This usually gives me extra time to mark an order as despatched or extend it, not less.
