Every time I click on 1 of my listings I get a pop up in the lower right corner that says quick survey: Quick Survey, are these items ready to pack and ship when an order is received. Is this normal? It won't go away. It's been a week or 2 now and very annoying.
We have this annoying survey (that I don't respond to) and the pop up cart (because we're too stupid to know our cart is empty). I think this must be "let's keep staff busy on useless things, rather than fix the real problems". We wouldn't want to consider putting them to work on a customer service department, or perhaps remove the useless bots that continually shut down legitimate sellers, would we?
Folks this is not (and cannot be) a Virus or malware... It is coming directly from Etsy and they are asking about our inventory. It is asking
Quick Survey, are these items ready to pack and ship when an order is received. (3 things actually)
Is it ready to ship
Not ready to ship
I don't know
but rest assured you do not have a virus.. it is coming from Etsy.. Hopfully if enough people complain (like I just did) they will stop it.
yes, that's the pop up I get in the new listing format.
but I always switch to the old listing method, no pop ups there... yet... finger crossed. (long live old listing format)
Thank you for the reassurance. I was really thinking I had a virus or malware as the 1st poster mentioned above. I've been in touch with tech support to hopefully reassure me of what you're saying also. I've spent so much time trying to figure out what was wrong with my computer.
I got something similar today while I was creating a new listing. I don’t recall it saying survey… it was a pop up asking if the item was ready to ship.
yes, that's the same pop up that we're referring too.
I've been getting them for a while too. I think it's a test.
Simple fix on etsy's side: If a listing is marked as "made to order" then please don't ask if it's ready to ship immediately. You know this information already. Simple programming change
As a fix to the immediate issue they have created, as others mentioned, switching over to the "old version" editor, seems to make this go away thankfully.
I had a good laugh - I also received the same pop message, but for a custom portrait listing
I just started getting it today as well.
My items are ready to ship so I answered the survey. Once Etsy has enough data it will go away. It is just another test. Only takes a second.
I am hoping that I answered your question correctly. I am new to Etsy so I thought they were just checking on the accuracy of my shipping. I haven't sold enough to know so I thought that was why they were asking. Q - I do have some POD products that I put my own artwork on, I answer "not ready to ship" on those. Is that the right answer?
yes, i answered the same. but I get the same pop up every single time i open 1 of my listings. I thought i had a virus or malware. I'm just thankful that I came here to ask if it was happening to anyone else.
I seem to remember hearing that at least one person's opinion was that the real purpose for most Etsy surveys was not to see if they should implement something, but rather to gauge how much negative reaction they will receive to something that will be implemented regardless of the survey results, or to be able to say something like "90% of our items are ready to ship immediately".
They really don't need a survey.
They've got all the data already.
I got this pop up when I listed my last two new items. Maybe it puts us at an avantage if the times are shipped right away? Does not have to be negative. Just dreaming I guess, LOL.
OMG, Had that all day yesterday! How annoying!
it's so annoying. Did it go away? I've had it for every single listing for a week or 2 now.
I just got it tonight and I answered it. Seemed like an innocent enough question, but who knows...
Yes, it is a simple survey that only takes a moment, but multiply by almost 1000 listings and I am not a fan!!
Although simple enough to answer, I'm new to etsy and I just wasn't sure if I was hacked or something.. Glad i came here to find out that it wasn't just me.. and now realizing that it probably is an etsy thing. phew!!!!
Yep. I used to use my cart as a step toward a purchase. Maybe not everything but when I was shopping for baby nursery things, I was creating a group of things that went together for our jungle theme. So a lot would be (and actually was purchased). I also had stuff from particular sellers in my cart waiting until I had enough selections to make a purchase worthwhile (shipping costs and all) and sometimes waiting for things to be restocked.
Now I put nothing in my cart because the pop-ups every time I log in ... a lot ... I'm a seller too ... are just so darn annoying.
I know different people use carts in different ways. Many of the things from my shop in people's carts doesn't get purchased ... at least from my shop.
But can't help but wonder if the constant pop-ups will have the opposite impact than what was intended.
By the way, when I shop places that send me the 'you left something in your cart' email almost immediately ... I rarely go back. And I purchased something on-line about a month ago ... something I really wanted ... and immediately received about 7 emails with offers with discount codes and trying to sell me more stuff. I called them and cancelled my order. They asked me why and I said ... if you would have just sent what I purchased and I liked it you would have had a customer for life. But before I even received it you bombarded me with emails. I don't want to deal with you.
I just don't like being pressured or annoyed.
Wonder how many other shoppers are like me.
@GlassyFields I do get annoyed when I purchase something online and suddenly I’m on their email list! I always try t remember to check the opt out box before checking out, but obviously often forget (or they don’t have one, or they have “hidden” it somewhere that’s not obvious.
It should be an “opt in” square you check.

That is actually against the law in many areas of the World! No company can harvest a customer's information without the customer explicitly giving their written permission. Buying any item from a company does NOT give the business legal justice to harvest your information and use it to spam you! CAN-SPAM ACT 2023. The FTC can impose a fine of up to $16,000 per spam email, with no maximum limit. The FTC can also seek other types of relief, such as an injunction.
