I am Indian Seller, We were happy with New Etsy update about to introduce Etsy Payments in India and will be available to enroll on 3rd June 2024, and on 4th June we proceed to enroll with Etsy Payments, and connected our Esty Account to Payoneer. and received email that "Great news – you’ve been enrolled in Etsy Payments and can start receiving new orders."
But when I open Etsy account dashboard then got yellow popup there to add GSTIN tax ID, which I already added Last Year in 2023. Don't know why Etsy asking GSTIN again. Its okay I've no issue to provide GSTIN again, as I am a genuine seller.
But Issue is that, when i tried to Add again GSTIN in "Legal and tax information" and click on "Submit to Etsy" button, then its showing the error in Red popup Bar "there was an error saving your taxpayer information. Please try again"
I tried to contact Etsy Chat support and shared the Issue about Error and ask Why need GSTIN again?, then i got email and they suggest me "I understand that despite adding your GSTIN, you are still being asked to add it. To address this, I recommend trying to re-enter the GSTIN by navigating to Shop Manager > Finances > Legal and Taxpayer details > Click Edit, even if it was previously added. Sometimes, re-entering the details can resolve such issues. If re-adding the GSTIN doesn't resolve the issue, please feel free to reply to this email, and we'll investigate further."
and regarding ERROR Pop-up, they Suggest me to do these steps via email
(1) Update your browser
(2) Disconnect from any VPN connections on your device
(3) Turn off any ad-block extensions in your browser
(4) Enable cookies for Etsy in your browser settings
(5) Clear cache from your browser
(6) System restart
I did everything as they Guided me in above steps, but issue was still there. and when I replied on the same email again, then didn't get any response from Etsy side again even replied 2-3 times. then I tried again to contact Etsy chat support and again shared my all issues that I am facing, even I told them, I am facing this issue to add from frontend, please ADD GSTIN FROM BACKEND, If any docs required I will share, But they told "I AM SORRY BUT WE CAN'T UPDATE THAT FROM OUR END"
They just told me on chat "our team just send you a follow up email once done as I need to coordinate this with our team" but I didn't received any email or response from Etsy yet.
I don't know what to do Now, as 31 July 2024 will be the last date to add GSTIN!
I've something to Ask from ETSY.
(1) If ETSY required to update any info from seller side, then why Updating info process is not Smooth?
(2) If seller facing issue to update info then why ETSY SUPPORT don't take this on priority and resolve it ASAP! because its Hardwork of Sellers and Etsy always ready to Suspend Account with minor effects and no support further!
(3) If Seller facing issue to update on "Legal and Tax Information" then why Etsy don't update that info from your Backend side? If Etsy need any docs, they should ask.
But at least resolved the sellers Issue ASAP!, otherwise after deadline Etsy is Ready to SUSPEND Seller's account, they don't even think that How much seller doing the hardwork to grow His ETSY SHOP!
Etsy don't care about Seller's Hardwork, Every responsibility is of Seller, Even there could be a bug on Etsy System!
If Anyone have Solution to Resolve this ERROR or BUG Please share ASAP!....

Hi Neha. What was the exact solution that you did. I am too getting a big red banner on my Shop Legal and Tax info page "We are unable to verify your business info". My shop is enrolled on Etsy payments and connected via payoneer.

THERE ARE LOT OF SELLERS HAVE SAME PROBLEM AND ALSO THERE MANY SELLERS WHI HAS DIFFERENT PROBLEMS OF THERE OWN BUT ETSY HAS WORST SERVICE WITH THERE SELLERS AND ETSY IS THE WORST APP TO SELL ON
WHEN THERE IS SMALL ISSUE INSTEAD OF SOLVING ETSY SUSPENDS YOUR ACCOUNT
FOR US AS A SELLER WE HAVE BIG PROBLEM HERE I THINK WE ALL SELLER MUST BANNED ETSY AND DELETE OUR ACCOUNT FROM ETSY BECAUSE ETSY IS NOT READY TO HAVE US ON BOARD

I have updated my GSTIN but still same issue whenever calls the Customer Service Associate, they tell the system is unable to fetch the data so re-enter the GSTIN number. I have done this process 4 times but yet to receive GSTIN approval mail from Etsy. Payoneer is connected but no mail i have got from ETSY. No idea what will happen after 31st July, maybe they will shut my store without my fault, only because of their system issue. Reall surprising. For two days i am trying to get in touch with Customer service team even after 1 hour of waiting no one is responding
I have this same problem.... I enter the correct information and receive an error my shop is in suspended have reached out to Chat they said they were forwarding to customer specialist over 24 hours no communication via chat or email still getting the same error. I tried just updating the tax information and have gone as far as trying to a correct name/spelling and entering that way the same result then get locked for 24 hours. I just need HELP any recommendations on how to get this escalated/ another way to enter the information for it to accept it.
