Welcome Ms. Roza Creativity. Greetings, seller! With the introduction of a novel payment system on our service, it's essential for shop owners to reverify their shops. This is vital for showcasing new orders and boosting security. To start the verification process, simply click the button below, and you will be taken to the verification page. If etsy ever DID introduce a "novel payment system", they would announce it well in advance, in the forums and on our dashboards. Etsy simply doesn't talk like this and doesn't reach out individually to sellers to "reverify".

If or when etsy needs ID or financial information, it is ALWAYS on your dashboard.

Hello,

Etsy is actively engaged in preventing scammers from targeting our community members. If you receive a suspicious message, please proceed with caution. Etsy Support will never ask you to provide personal information via Etsy Messages, such as your email address or password. Any legitimate message from us will show in your "From Etsy" folder.

If you receive a suspicious message, here’s how to report it:

  1. Sign in to Etsy.com and go to Your Account.
  2. Go to Messages
  3. Select the suspicious message from your inbox.
  4. Choose Mark as Spam.

You’ll find examples of common scammer techniques and phishing messages here in our Help Center. Read our Account Security Checklist in the Seller Handbook for more steps you can take to protect your account.

Hello! Your item has been bought by a customer, but we need to verify your account for security reasons before transferring the funds. Transactions on this account are currently paused. To reactivate your shop, please verify your Etsy account. Simply type "QR" here and we will send you a QR code with a link to the verification page. Once the verification is complete, your shop will be back in action. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation. Thank you!

Best regards,
Etsy Support Team

Definitely a scam, not Etsy Support. Scammers are an epidemic here, hitting new Sellers as well as seasoned ones, and I'm sorry they targeted you.  QR Codes is one of the scams.  "Verification" is another, as well as posing as Etsy Staff/Support, etc.   When you receive a LEGIT Message from Etsy Support/Staff, etc., it will appear in the "From Etsy" Folder (in Messages). If it isn't there, Mark the Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller).  *"From Etsy" Folder was not on the App until recently (a highlighted blurb on the Message). The thing is, should you not see this first (and be familiar with it), you could receive a scammer's Message beforehand. Also, the App does not allow you to Mark the Message as Spam (you must use a browser instead, or use the Buyer App).

Also for future, many scammers are posing as "Buyers", stating they need your email for an Order. They don't, Etsy already has it. When you receive a LEGIT Order, it will appear in "Orders & Shipping" (Left Column of Shop Dashboard); if it isn't there, you have no Order.  Mark the scammer's Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller).  And never click on links or engage with them.

Etsy should be able to nail these FAKE accounts who are impersonating Etsy Staff/Support, etc. It's happening way too often. Here is the Announcement about the "From Etsy" Folder (currently this is in past Announcements).

Here is the other Announcement, "Protect Your Account With These Security Tips" (it is now in past Announcements).

Hope this is helpful to you.

@CraftyCornishMaids

Obviously most of these scammers  are not speaking/using English--neither American or British as their first language. I can understand others who do not speak it as a first language  not knowing--but anybody who is English speaking as their first language should immediately realize that something is wrong!

I am constantly SMH over this alone!

Re: Fraud

I registered for Etsy yesterday and the fraud artists wasted no time coming for me. In addition to an email flagged as spam by Etsy in my Etsy mail (which I did not see right away) I received an email to the account associated with my Etsy store, saying I had a sale of my product (by name), with a link to "manage" the order. That took me to a very sophisticated hack of the Etsy site, where a chat window informed me Etsy was now paying immediately on sales and that they had to verify my credit card account. I entered my credit card info, and then became worried as the chat dragged on with steps that failed to unfold. An SMS to my phone didn't happen. A pop-up that said a "push" message for a test transaction would appear on my bank app (they had the right bank, I assume from the credit card number) asking me to okay a transaction. No pop-up of course appeared. I cut off the chat conversation and immediately suspended my credit card. I was just in time. The bank told me a trading company in Quebec that appeared to do gaming transactions had tried to charge $360 to my card (this was the test, but they implied it would be a test deposit that would be immediately reversed, not a test charge against the card). So now I am waiting for a new credit card from my bank and am more than aware to trust NOTHING that arrives in my email saying it's from Etsy.
