Just struck me as weird - when I go to the Forums page, "Empholen" is at the top, rather than Recommended. Why would the German translation be there? Etsy, this is a little stranger than usual!
Anybody else have this show up?
Yes, but not at the moment. I've seen it in the past and thought it weird as well. I remember discussions about this, but can't recall what they said.
I've been looking thru past Forum Threads to see if I can find something about this, but I'm not seeing it. I do recall discussions about it though.
@ChillwolfArt Psst..it is because they remove them
@hopeandjoystudios Aha, Thank You, that's it:) When I try to find a Thread for someone, I see old Threads which are from 2021. Then I forget that Etsy has deleted other ones which aren't as old.
Thanks Chillwolf - glad it's not just me. I've seen it twice today, and now it's gone again...!
I've seen that often in the forums but it happens randomly. I think most people ignore it. Of all the bugs related to the Etsy site and associated forum, that one is the least troubling.
@Amaradorn Pretty Avatar!
@ChillwolfArt lol thank you, I finally changed it after all these years of hiding behind a moth painting. My dog is my little helper - he never leaves my side.
I've seen it too, come and go. I wouldn't mind it if I thought it wasn't something else they have screwed up on.
I have seen random words show in German before too. I often see "Betreff" at the beginning of a post title when a german seller is the latest to reply to the post.
I saw it now, too. It's really weird.
While we’re on the topic of not understanding stuff….can anyone tell me what “Betreff” means? I see it often on threads with a lot of responses or in older threads in place of the OP’s shop name. I’ve never understood it.
@DivineCrossings I think it's German for "Subject". I see that word on post titles after a German seller replies.
@CanningCrafts @Thanks! But it is weird how it changes. Apparently someone wants to confuse the English speaking seller population by sporadically interjecting German words. Go Etsy! lol.
Like @CanningCrafts suggests, I think it has to do with whoever posted to a thread last and that Seller's preferred language.
Sometimes it says "À La Une"
I think we should blame @AnnaleasFinest ; )
YES
Please use your power for good.
Always.
I get both the German and French versions every so often and I must admit I have wondered why. It is a good reminder, though, that Etsy is an international site.
But in German it would be "empfohlen"!
Why don't they show that to me?? : )
