Hi,
It looks like Etsy is now protecting all files sent by customers too now. All of the customer logos I'm trying to use for orders that have to ship today are appearing as protected files(.webp). They are all appearing with a gray haze over them online. Then I try to download them and they download as .webp files. So, they can't be used.
Please fix this!

WebP is a replacement for JPEG and PNG from Google
Etsy doesn't seem to be supporting it. So it is possible the buyer will have to send as a JPEG or PGN.
It's not a protected file. It's a format Etsy doesn't seem to be supporting. At least it is not in the list.
Nothing to fix. It is a format that many platforms have switched to. You can download apps that will translate it to jpg. As for "gray haze" - that is a problem with the customer's file.
You can open them in Windows Paint, or possibly other editing software.
Webp is just another type of image file. Find a free webp to jpg converter online.
On my computer, I can open them in Windows Photos and save them as a JPEG. It works for me.
Sometimes I get JPEG images & sometimes I get .webp files. I haven't figured out why it's inconsistent. When I get a .webp file, I control click & copy it in my browser, then I paste it into Photoshop. Since I'm able to do it that way, I haven't gotten any of the converter apps.
Etsy dpes support and use webp format. If you have a capable browser listing images on Etsy are in webp. If you need extra editing capabilities, GIMP is a very good (and free) alternative to PhotoShop and there are many free simpler photo editing applications that can natively open webp.
You can always email them the file/s.
there is a chrome free plugin that allows you to save the image as a jpg
WebP / Avig image converter
Oh for goodness sakes this adds 10 mins of extra time to xpost a listing, please please please add support for this file type.
Contact customer and provide link to the many websites that convert files to JPG
@ReImagineBrewing There are all kinds of sites that convert them free. I am always converting avif and webp to jpg.
