So now Etsy is putting items in my cart that I favorited??????
I favorited an item, the seller offered me a discount, I went out to dinner and when I returned the item was in my cart! What is this now? I no longer add items to my cart until I’m ready to purchase them ever since Etsy started blocking my home page on the right side with the items in my cart! I can completely understand why so many sellers have left or are leaving Etsy. They are no longer helping their sellers but are causing problems where none used to exist before. Knock it off, Etsy!
Actually this is probably seen by Etsy as being a help to sellers ... putting their item in the carts of potential buyers. As a buyer, I would be totally p*ssed off at this. Like you, I put in my cart when/if I want to purchase. Just because I like something, doesn't mean I'm going to (or am able to) buy it.
This has happened to me twice now and in fact I wrote to the shop owner to apologize for not being able to purchase the items that Etsy is putting in my cart. I find it horribly annoying and aggravating1!
This hasn't happened to me, but I don't like the sound of this. What's next, auto checkouts by Etsy??
Their stock is tanking so I wouldn’t put it past them but if they try that they better be prepared for an avalanche of lawsuits
Wow, that’s so nervy - and looks so desparate! How many more buyers are going to make an “oops” purchase that sellers will have to cancel? What a mess they’re making of this site, yikes! @mayababyjewelry @Thanks for the tip off!
I favourited an item a couple of weeks ago and every time I click on any listing I get a pop up urging me to add the favourite to my basket and check it out. I've stopped putting hearts on things because of this and will watch my basket with interest to see if the item magically appears in there.
That surely explains why people put my items in their carts but never purchase them ! Thanks for sharing your customer experience. Silly me, I thought there was a problem at checkout. No, there's just a problem at the etsy marketing decisions team, overriding customers decisions ! No doubt after that if they had thoughts about buying this would completely turn them off.
People put items in carts for many, many reasons other than to buy. Other sellers used to harass buyers that favorited items (until Etsy put a stop to it) so many carted things they would have favorited. It's also easier (at least for me) to find things in saved for later than in favorites. I also cart items to test out issues that people ask about in the forums. Maybe I want to compare items. The list goes on and on.
This happened to me a while ago so it might not be the same thing, but the item was added to the cart when I clicked on the discount in the Deals drop down.
If I just look at an offer or a discount and don't click it, it doesn't.
