Favorites Setting auto changing from PUBLIC to PRIVATE

Hi Etsy,
We have been having an issue with favorites auto changing from PUBLIC setting to PRIVATE setting every time we "heart" or "favorite" other shops/sellers items. Our shop setting is set for PUBLIC viewing of our favorites, but as soon as we start "favoriting/hearting" items, the setting automatically changes to Private setting. We are having to constantly change the setting every single day multiple times a day and when on teams, others think we are not "hearting" their items as our setting keeps auto changing to Private even though we keep changing it back to Public and saving it. We are using a Desktop computer and Chrome. This has been happening since beginning of October. This appears to be a technical issue as others have said they are having same issue. Once we stop "favoriting" items it stays on Public, but the moment we start "favoriting/hearting" items setting changes to PRIVATE.

My shop keeps doing that too. If I click on PUBLIC and then click on SAVE, it's supposed to stay that way, but it doesn't.

Another seller who is on favouriting teams said this is happening to her.

Etsy's bots may thing YOU are a robot for favouriting so many items so fast - it's not natural behaviour for a shopper.

Because click / search manipulation is against the Terms of Use, Etsy may have devised a way to try to suppress it.

@PlatypusDream After seeing both of those OPs about this, I also thought that might be the case.  But then I checked my favorites and they were now set to private.   I've never set my fav's to private and I've never been on any fav'ing team.  I put it back to public, so now I'm going to see what happens if I fav something again. brb

eta - Adding one more favorite just turned my favorites to private again!

@OneEyeCatStudio Yeah, because I just tested it again, but I didn't change it back to public yet.   I haven't added a shop favorite in a while, so I wonder if adding one will change the shop fav's to private now? brb

eta - Added your shop and it stayed on public.  So it's only affecting item favorites...... for now anyway.

This happened to me the other day looking thru multiple pages of fabrics on an Etsy shop.   I favorited numerous fabrics for possible purchase as it would be impossibly tedious to go back to that shop and find what I was interested in again.  So, yes, it can be "natural behavior" for some shoppers.

Are there any mature content in the favorites that Etsy is trying to hide, like funny greeting card with "bad" words.

They're working on something.

Mine are still public, but in one of my shops there are options under the pic to Buy it now or Add to cart. Plus it says 'returns accepted' and gives  a delivery estimate.

Nope. It just added the item. It still says Public.

 WHY can't Etsy FIX the favorites so that they STAY on PUBLIC. My page says "Public" but when I sign out and look at my shop my Favorites are NOT showing, and I like to SEE other shop's favorites and want others to see mine - CAN YOU ETSY PLEASE FIX this so that all favorites ARE AND REMAIN PUBLIC?

Etsy - Can you address this issue as it is very frustrating to have our settings set and saved on public, yet the moment we heart/favorite any item it auto changes to private. We change it back to public, save, go heart some more and it auto changes right back to private again. Once we stop hearting/favoriting items and change it back to public once again, it stays public until we start favoriting anything - items or shops. This has been going on for more than 1 week. No response.

Me too and I know of at least ten sellers this just happened to. I can see my fav items in my profile page, but etsy changed my PUBLIC items to PRIVATE. I just changed it back to public... but that is unsettling? Etsy please do your best to fix this. We are a community of sellers who love to support one another and want the world to know it too. k

Etsy,  This is terrible!  Put your team on it.  We pay big money to have this site up and functioning.  Remember who pays your bills!  Fix the Favorites NOW.

Please keep my favorites set to public-our shop has loads of followers who check out our favorites. I am sure this adds up to sales (and profit) for us all!

I am also caught in this bug and it is extremely aggravating. Spoke to someone at Etsy support about 3 or 4 days ago and it is still not fixed.

This is a random problem, not all shops have it. My other shop does NOT have this Bug.

Etsy did make a change regarding the display you get when you click on a  favorite at the beginning of Oct. This seems to coincide with the bug.

This shop has the test version and it is also aggravating; ie – I heart an item – I get a quick acknowledgement that I hearted it just above the heart (that is fine) BUT then I get a dropdown asking me if I want to save it to a collection. It shows 2 possible collections (that are locked). To get rid of that screen I need to click “skip” OR create a new collection. That is 1 thing more than I want to do.

ETSY hates the teams and the threads and this will turn sellers off and will lead to the death of teams and threads.

@RockPopAtoZ Hello Steven. Seems Etsy deleted my post to you on team bashers. However I have found out the way to correct this favorites problem. I tested it and so have some of my teammembers.

REMEDY TO COMBAT THE FAV BUG

I tested it and it appears to finally get our favs back to where they were.

1. Just to start FRESH close out all Etsy tabs and sign back on with the infected shop.
2. On your main shop page left click your picture (not the one on top)
3. You will see a new page. On the top left you will see the term “Your Favorites” under that you will see “about” left click on ABOUT.
4. On the bottom of the next screen you will see “Edit public profile” click that.
5. If the next screen asks you to sign in just sign in again so you can get to the final screen you want.
6. Go the bottom of the next screen. You will need to click on the box for “favorite items” to add them to your profile.
7. Click “Save Changes”

OH! So that's interesting. I have followed many friends for years and I enjoy sharing favorites. Two days ago two of my follows went private at the same time which I was sad to see. I had no idea that it was likely due to a glitch. Etsy has really lost a grip on this website.
