Hello,
I was on chat with support and they suggested I leave a message here.
I always respond to messages within 24 hours. Today I woke up to my score dropping another percentage rate overnight.
I notice the drop nearly always occurs when I have recieved a message from an international customer when it's the middle of the night in my country.
I'm always consistently responding within 24 hours, usually right away, or at least within 4, unless it's when I'm asleep.
I suspect there's a glitch that's happening with the time and date stamps between countries.
Etsy, please look into this. It would be awful to lose star seller rating based on faulty information when I consistently make so much effort to keep on top of things.
Sounds like there may be a glitch ... even waiting until you wake up to respond to a message that came in the middle of the night shouldn't cause your score to drop. (Assuming you don't have extremely long sleep cycles). Or maybe there is a delay between the message coming into Etsy and being relayed to your phone ... if you're using that to check messages. At any rate:
To prevent getting dinged for delayed message responses, here is my suggestion: Set up auto-reply when you're sleeping ... this will count as a reply to sellers in different time zones messaging you when you're not awake. Then check your messages when you're awake. The auto response will count as the initial response and all other messages with a particular person won't count.
Download the CVS file and check the messages where you got dinged. You may find a pattern that will help you devise other strategies.
And, if you move a message to spam it no longer counts against your SS message response stats. Be careful though, once you move a message to spam all the messages from that person go to spam. So you'll have to check your spam folder to make sure you don't miss any messages. (you can move the messages back to your main folder after 3 months when the SS review period is past).
@WearingHistory: "I suspect there's a glitch that's happening with the time and date stamps between countries." Star Seller stats are in UTC not in local time zones so 24 hours is 24 hours. As suggested, check the applicable CSV file for the best data. You did not mention if you are using an Etsy app or a browser, but there are lots of reports in this forum about the apps not updating / synchronizing messages and orders in a timely manner.
Hey folks, it's the first of the month. November stats dropped off so they are not longer relevant to Star Seller.
If you had a lot of messages in November and not so many in December, your percentage can drop. Right now, the stats are covering Dec., Jan., and February. If you get a lot of messages this month, your percentage might go up.
It takes 19 answered in time messages and only 1 unanswered in time to reach the coveted 95%.
