I've been trying to purchase shipping labels for the last two days, but keep getting an error message "labels failed to purchase". Anyone else having this issue? I even tried a different browser, but had no luck. 14 years on Etsy and I've never had this issue. Chat support said I could purchase labels from outside Etsy and that they would refund the difference? Has anyone ever received a shipping refund for this situation? Shipping directly through FedEx would cost over double (not small packages, so looking at over $200 more). I updated the shipping dates to give me a few more days, but I really don't want to purchase more expensive shipping without knowing for sure that I'll be reimbursed.
Try Pirateship. They have similar prices and excellent customer service. They shouldn't be more? Not sure if they offer FedEx as I only use that when someone has an account and requests it..but they do UPS.UPS ground is the best I have found for oversized packages.
Who is the 'they' in ''...that they would refund the difference''? Etsy?
It's very doubtful "they" are going to refund any difference in shipping prices. Chat is just that....chat.
@ParadiseArtGlass Your Hand Blown Vases are exquisite! This is ridiculous, and I'm sorry you're having trouble. I agree with HouseofWhisperingFir; I don't think Chat will follow through with that (could be wrong, but...). I know you've probably done the following already; clear cache/cookies (if you haven't, I would try it). You already tried a different browser. I'm surprised more people aren't complaining about receiving the "labels failed to purchase" message.
I've not used Etsy Labels, and was planning to this year, but this is one of the reasons I've not done it; it's absurd to disrupt your work like this, and for 2 days now? Unreal.
I really hope this issue will be resolved for you, and soon.

I got that message a few days ago, but I went back in and redid the label and it went through the second time. Two days....sheesh!
as others have suggested, I would use an outside shipper like pirateship.com. be sure to put the tracking number into each order here on Etsy though so you don’t get penalized for late shipping.
I updated the shipping date. Luckily my client is very understanding and not in a hurry. Unfortunately pirateship doesn't offer FedEx.

I spoke with Mehak at Etsy support, they told me to just find another carrier and send my parcel that way.

I use Pirateship. I've never seen labels be more than on Etsy.
Pirateship has lots of options. I use mostly USPS and UPS.
I've never heard of Etsy refunding the difference between an Etsy label and a label purchased elsewhere. But with Pirateship, it won't make a difference.
USPS Priority is even more expensive than FedEx for large boxes. I've not had a great experience with UPS (more breakage and difficult insurance claims),
Etsy wants Sellers to ship on time (and Sellers want that too). If there is an issue with Etsy Labels (and it certainly sounds like there is), it should be addressed, and fixed.
Hitting the same issue buying an Australia Post label now (Monday morning). I'll buy my label direct from AusPost, but really would prefer to buy direct from Etsy, even at an extra 40c cost for the simplicity of having all of my shipping profiles already set up, vs having to manually enter them. Not the first time I've run into this and disappointed it seems to be such an ongoing issue with site reliability.
I also cannot print labels and have had no issues for 8 years. I am however able to print them in app on my phone, but otherwise I haven't been able to. I reached out to support and got the same reply.
The app only lets me print one label and I need 9. Thanks for chiming in, at least I'm not alone lol.
UPDATE: I sent etsy chat my screen shots of the original chat and the pdf of my FedEx receipt and they issued a refund. I was able to print labels for my other orders.
Yep and now the shipping label button is greyed out for all orders - any one know what’s happening?
