Hey y'all, hope everyone is doing blessed! I have been thinking lately, one thing that really bothers me about Etsy Shop Sales is that there is no way to change the duration of the sale once it has been set - you can only adjust the items which are part of the sale. Do you think Etsy should make it so that you can change the date for the ending of the sale? This is regarding shop specific sales, not Etsy sale events. Also I understand that Etsy wants to keep sales limited to a span of a month. Either they can make it so that you can extend the sale anytime within the 1 month period, or maybe they can add an option to extend the sale beyond the one month period. What do y'all think? I just find it really tedious having to start new sales and re-adding each specific item anytime I want to make a sale longer.
I think it's illegal in some places to run a sale for more than 30 days, because then it's not truthfully a sale, that's actually the price. Continuous sales are considered unfair and deceptive trade practices. My personal opinion is that I don't agree you should be able to just keep continuing sales. Sales should be for limited times, and I have no issue with the limit being 30 days at a time.
It's weird that if you had joined Etsy's Mother's Day or Father's Day sales events, the duration was longer than 30 days. But if you set up your own sale the max allowable is 30 days.
just saying.
And yes, Keep Etsy Tedious is one of many unofficial brand slogans.
I have no problem with the sales feature as it is. A suggestion... Set up your sale for the full 30 days and then end it when you want instead of redoing it, because you decide you want it to run longer.
I agree. Sometimes I’ve wanted to extend my original sale by a week or so and there’s no simple way to do that
@TuckerAndTed: Even though Etsy seems to break its own rules, the reason for the 30 days is probably that it is a "safe" choice due to the varying laws and regulations in different jurisdictions about how soon, how often, and for what period of time an item may be on sale. And a shop has to comply not only with their local laws but also those of where they ship to.
