Anyone else experiencing problems with expected delivery date?
I have made to order items with 2 weeks preparation, then delivery settings are for example 7-14 days shipping from Europe to US, yet for some (not everyone, which is even weirder) it shows:
Buyer expects delivery by: 26 Dec
which is doable only for Santa Claus I guess
I keep messaging buyers to give them a heads up, but I'm worried about complaints later anyway.
same. I've tried contacting ETSY several times about this. the answer they gave is that the dates are now estimated by our local delivery company (whichever ones we use) and on many occasions this is different to the ETSY date. It still doesn't make sense to me though. Like you, I am allowing tons of time for processing but the estimated dates are still saying I'm dispatching late even though it is literally only 1 or 2 days after purchase.
Same here.
I just got an order where it says Dispatch by 16th December, the buyer expects delivery by 16th - 23rd December. I am in Europe, buyer in USA!!!
What ???!!!
It is misleading to customers and also very annoying.... I have decided to close the shop till end of the year.
Yes been reporting on this also, etsy are using their santa tracker. seriously though how can anything be arriving on these dates, they are holidays!! I have a load of orders showing unreasonable EDD. Of course some girls and boys may open cases when their santa gifts don't arrive on time!
Yep. I’ve contacted them about this multiple times since I started noticing it in the spring of this year, to no avail. They will not change/fix it. I’ve been referring them to the purchase protection program. At my wits end and don’t know what else to do.
I just realized the expected delivery day of the my orders are not the same as I set. I am very worry as I am from Asia, to do international shipping during these holiday season delay and unexpected issue happened but what Etsy show to customer the schedule is really tight and impossible for a international shipping. I already have customer asked for refund. It really hurts my business. I feel sad for all the hard work I have done these days.
I have spoken with etsy today about this , today the 18th of December is the last shipping date for 2nd class royal mail items to arrive before Christmas . However our listings are showing that if customers order today (18th December) with a 2 day processing time and 2nd class Royal Mail delivery(which has now passed) Customers should expect items to arrive between the 19th and the 28th December . I asked how will it arrive on the 19th if 2nd class post is 2-3 day normally and Royal Mail themselves say it will not be delivered before the 25th if shipped today . ETSY told me its a technical issue and they will get back to us in 3-5 business days by which time it is too late !! however if the item doesn't arrive in time for Christmas the customer can have a full refund !! its a joke
I've had about a dozen customers contacting me because their parcels are "late" this week even though i dispatched on the same day! Its awful, we're the ones who will end up getting poor reviews because its impossible to have parcels arrive the next day when I say i process in 1-2 days and send second class. Even when i dispatch within one hour it still is impossible, being set up to fail!
I have been having this issue too. Exactly like your example. I have also contacted Etsy and they said they know about it and are working on it, but I look back and see that I first messaged them about this in April with no changes, in fact, I think it is getting worse. I wish there was a work around or something where they would ONLY use the timeline that we have set up in shipping profiles.
I am now reaching out to each customer to let them know the ACTUAL arrival estimates which honestly looks so confusing and unprofessional to customers. I'm not going to be able to keep up with these messages once my busy season starts in January.
**if you have this issue, please keep reporting it
I have the exact same problem. I have to send messages to the customers one by one telling them that Etsy provided wrong delivery dates. This is so annoying.
I'm looking for guidance. I mailed product to two buyers within 2 days with my own shipping and label but forgot to "Complete" the order on the Etsy site until 1-2 months later. The report shows that I was very late sending both packages, even though they were received by the buyers within 2-3 days of my sending them. This is a blemish on my record.
@TreasuresfromSophia: Unfortunately there is nothing to be done. The metric is that an order needs to be shipped on time and the shipped date is based on the date you select when marking the order as 'complete'. There is no way to select a date in the past.
This has been going on for months. I so remember getting that first message in the Label tab that time did not apply to Etsy as it does to us.
I just ignore the messages now.
Best of luck.
Same. I have seen expected delivery dates BEFORE my "Ship By" date. I guess we have to just increase our processing time to give customers more realistic expectations of when it will be delivered. I think Etsy thinks that customers are more likely to buy if they get the item sooner, and has intentionally introduced these bugs to artificially give customers the idea that it will arrive sooner. And when it doesn't arrive in time they customer blames the seller, they are throwing us under the bus.
