I will lose my Star Seller status because Etsy mistakenly states I didn't ship an item on time, but on the item history it shows that the item was ordered on Nov. 22 and shipped on Nov. 22 by USPS (an accepted carrier) and the tracking number is showing. To achieve 95%, I must sell at least 19 items in the 3 month window. I have higher priced items and sell about one a week on average.
So just one mistake by Etsy will be very costly for me for three months.
Why is there NO recourse for when Etsy makes a mistake?
Did you mark it shipped in the evening?
If you mark it shipped in the evening, sometime after normal business hours, Etsy's system will have already rolled over to the next day. You must manually select today's date, or the system will mark it as shipped tomorrow.
** Just a suggestion, you might want to change your shipping processing time to 2 day, not same day. Even with the best of intentions, life happens. You can still ship same day, but adding a day or two to processing time helps to protect you in the event something goes wrong.
Thanks for the advice. I understand what you are saying because that evening thing can happen. But that's not the situation here. It doesn't say it is a late shipping, it says there is no tracking code. That's not true.
I shipped it on time and entered the tracking code manually. But the CSV file says there is no tracking code.
I'm afraid for the future of adding tracking codes manually, that the Etsy computer system isn't reading them.
Wish Etsy tech would look into this matter, but after hearing from other sellers, it seems a lost cause.
Oh well...glad my customers are pleased with my products!
i get that all the time due to Etsy's idiotic server/website. Because their server is in a different time zone, it says I missed shipping.
@PastorJoyCreations: "Etsy mistakenly states I didn't ship an item on time" Are you basing this on the applicable CSV file available on your Star Seller page? In particular make sure that *Had processing time?* = yes, *Ship by* has a date, *Tracking/label date* has a date, and *Shipped on time?* = yes. Remember that Star Seller dates / times are in UTC not your time zone.
Also make sure that the shipped date, tracking number and shipping company show correctly on the actual order. Etsy relies on a third party vendor for tracking (and tracking number validation) and uses the data on the order.
Yes, I am basing it on the CSV file information. The item had processing time of "yes", a ship by date, but the tracking label said "NO" even though the tracking label was clearly visible on the order form and I was able to click through and track it. I use Etsy labels 98% of the time with no issues, but
item was an international sale to a repeat customer. The last time I shipped to this customer, it never arrived and Etsy had to pay for the item. I thought I was doing everyone a favor by going to the USPS office, doing the shipping with a real person, then inputting the tracking code into the order form online before clicking "completed."
It was trackable, but Etsy says it was not. They are wrong, but I can't do anything about it.
There is definitely a glitch in the Etsy system and I paid the price for it.
Wish Etsy would clear up their tech issues and not blame us for these things.
Also depending on which country you are in, it doesn't recognise Bank Holidays when business' are closed.
Sorry to hear this. I can imagine that is frustrating.
I have had this error on two occasions now
Shipping star at 100% for weeks and then suddenly
Etsy reduces percentage and states one long ago previous sale now NOT shipped on time
When going back and actually looking at this order. It WAS shipped on time with tracking stating DELIVERED
and for weeks Etsy agreed with me and then suddenly did not ?? Go figure
That's the problem. It looks perfectly fine on the order. I entered the tracking code and I can click through and track the item. But the CSV file says there is no tracking code. The CSV file is clearly wrong, but Etsy won't fix it.
I also have wrongly stating no tracking, even it has tracking number, obvious system mistake. After contacting Etsy with the different issue via chat box a while ago, i can't start new chat now, so there is no easy way to report it to Esy.
Sounds like this is a repeated problem that Etsy can't or won't fix.
The previous item sent to this customer using just Etsy labels didn't get to the customer. So I made the additional effort to go to the Post Office in person and ship the item USPS International. Then I followed instructions and manually entered the tracking number into my Etsy orders. I was able to track it all the way to its destination.
Etsy's CSV file says there was no tracking number. But it is clearly on the order form. This is obviously a simple glitch in their coding systems not talking to each other. If only they would take the time to fix it and not punish us for something we actually did correctly.
But I'm not holding my breath... back to creating.
Etsy never changes things regarding Star Seller so trying to contact them to convince them otherwise is a wasted endeavour.
yep...
still wish they would fix this. It is a tech issue and the problem is clearly on their side and affecting more than just me.
But I'm not holding my breath. Back to creating...
Etsy and their unfair systems and lack of seller support truly don't bother me any more
I am in the process of transferring most of my business to my Website in conjunction with driving
sales to it via Instagram. Its taken a couple of years to get traction however sales on my website now
vastly outnumber those on Etsy
I came over to Etsy from Ebay when ebays dreaded defect system came into play and a seller could be banned and lose
their business purely on a buyers 'Opinion'
I am now in the process of going over to my website due to Etsy's Insane new buyer protection scheme
" If it arrives a day later than ETSY have advised you can get your money back and keep the item ,which will in fact be delivered to you shortly`'
I am now VERY nervous of any new buyer on Etsy (someone who has not purchased from me in the past) buying one of my
expensive items as I could potentially lose the item and the payment, which Etsy will Grab from my bank account
Etsy is no longer a stable platform for my business
Congratulations on your hard work to get your website up and running and working in your favor! I honor your decision to do this for your business. I wish you success!
In my situation, I have needed Etsy's platform, and I've been willing to pay for the services. But I'm discouraged by their lack of response to Star Sellar issues and their punitive attitude when the problem is actually their fault.
