Etsy showing wrong prices

I received a message from a customer this morning - “Hi, this is priced at £19.54 but when I click into the product the price jumps to £23.45. Can you be specific as to which price is the actual price payable that you want customers to pay as it’s confusing and quite off putting.”

This change in pricing on shop vs product pages has been bugging me for a while now. Etsy shows prices without fees, then shows the real price when the product is clicked. It’s sneaky and it’s costing me sales.

@WilloeStudio  Hi, this seems to be a glitch of some sort going on.  It looks like Etsy is automatically displaying the shipping price rolled into the item price.  But not on all listings.  Here is another current Thread about the same thing.

Some Sellers have reported that by going in and doing a quick edit on the listing, it seems to revert back to what it is supposed to display.

There have been a few posts from sellers here in the forums discussing this.  Some have suggested it's a programing error which sounds likely.  Others have thought it's a test. Because we don't know and Etsy has not shared an update I would screen shot the issue and contact Etsy if this is possible?  If not, send all info to Etsy including the conversation and ask for assistance.  This will help Etsy resolve the issue, give them the opportunity to help and find the problem.  Regardless, I would reassure the buyer of the actual cost.  There have been reports that editing the listing will readjust the price.

From what I've observed: It's the VAT. One price is with, the other without.

I see that with my own items. Listed in the recommendations, the price is without VAT. When clicked on it, the price is with it. In my shop, all prices are with VAT.

So, yes, programming error. Etsy seems to add the tax amount to the price you put in only at certain points.
