I had a buyer tell me the item she purchased was offered as having free shipping, but when she went to check out there was a shipping fee. This item definitely had shipping attached to it. She bought it and then added a note telling me this and asking for a refund on her shipping. Now I know this did happen to another friend of mine but the woman contacted her before she bought the item. I went ahead and refunded the shipping. Not really a big deal in relation to the sale, but has anyone else experienced this?
She might have seen free shipping in another shop and does not understand that each shop is run individually
That is very possible! She said "on your site" like I own etsy, LOL!
I can understand buyers being confused with the Etsy's free shipping ads ... and assuming it is for Etsy as a whole. Same with the sales. I'd hate to have to explain this to a buyer though ... but I'd do my best before continuing with the order.
Occasionally, a buyer may see the "free" shipping offered in one shop, if they purchase $35.00 (or whatever amount is stated), and they think purchasing that amount in different shops will give them free shipping, not understanding the shops are individual/separate shops.
Etsy’s packing slips say free shipping on them … perhaps that is what she saw and thought that meant site wide?
