Etsy shipping estimate message to customers ignoring processing time.

I have just noticed that recent orders that have been placed from the 7th of January onward have a completely wrong estimated shipping that completely ignores the estimated delivery times I have set in my shipping profiles.

For example an order that is set to ship by January 6th and is headed for the US has an estimated delivery date of January 8th. This is completely impossible as shipping from Cyprus from where I am based is at least 15 working days.

Does anyone know what is going on? The discrepancy is huge and buyers will not be very happy when they realise that the dates given are not accurate.

Hope you can help.

Elena

Re: Etsy shipping estimate message to customers ignoring processing time.

I looked at a few of the listings and if ordered today I see an arrival date between Jan 15 and Feb. 5.

Are you using Other to set profile or using a postage service.  Etsy's timeline for delivery is based on what the postal system uses.

Do you mean December 7th?

What is your processing timeframe? Etsy is going to start their calculations from the first possible day with quickest delivery. So if your processing time is 2-10 days, Etsy's going to assume you might ship on the second day. The earliest day (Jan 8th)  might be your earliest processing time plus 15 days.

Re: Etsy shipping estimate message to customers ignoring processing time.

They’ve started showing delivery dates based on “if the item is sent the day you order” as best possible delivery date, and “if the item is sent on your actual designated dispatch date based on the time it will take you to make it” as the worst possible delivery date. They’re completely ignoring the element where items are made to order, and are pushing for ready to ship immediate dispatch.

Can confirm I have had the same issue for weeks. It's now being reflected in reviews and messages from customers.

@TheCrownArts   You are shipping stickers.  That makes a difference as they are treated as letters and not as packages.

So letters have less delivery time than packages.

Re: Etsy shipping estimate message to customers ignoring processing time.

I had one that was estimated to arrive before the ship by date.  Yes I might send it before the ship by date, but not always.  Plus it didn't allow for days the post office is closed.

Often the estimated day of arrival is the next day, which is impossible.  They started ignoring processing time and going with how fast I usually ship, which makes setting a processing time kind of pointless.  Then they treat it like I guaranteed it.  Not helpful.

@MouseGarden   Did you check the settings for shippine.  If you marked no shipping for the holidays then Etsy ignores those holidays now.  You also control if you mark shipping for the weekends.  Did you check those settings?

Looking at your items I see appropriate arrival dates for the US.  If you are seeing something else when the label is created, that may or may not be true.  I ignore that when it happens and it has never been an issue.  The buyer does not see it.

@AllAboutEveCreations   Another thought.  What is your processing time frame?  If one or 2 days, the actually shipping can take place on that first day of processing which is why the time frame.  Etsy expects shipping to occur on the first day of your processing time frame till the last day of your time frame.  Looking again at your listings I see an arrival date of January 27 through Feb 8.  If your processing time frame is  1 to 3 or 3 to 5 days that still gives plenty of time for the tiem to arrive within 15 days.
