Is anyone else having this issue? I'm in the US and since yesterday every order that comes in shows "ship by tomorrow". These items all have 1-2 week processing times.I don't even have "one day processing" as an option. I've reached out VIA chat and got the usual "someone will contact you via email" response. I'm now having to play catch up and contact every customer to ask if I can extend the ship by date. It's embarrassing because it looks like I'm running my business poorly. So now I have angry customers and cancelled orders. ETSY please sort this out.
This could be a glitch that Etsy needs to fix (good luck getting that done in a timely manner).
However, it would not surprise me if this is deliberate, especially this time of year. Etsy wants so badly to compete with Amazon it is willing to do just about anything to make that happen. So they could be deliberately doing this to try to force you to ship faster.
All you can do is complain and try to force them to resolve the dings to your shop for late shipping.
I would extend shipping times immediately to what your normal shipping time is. You'll only be able to do that on the day the order comes in, however. With one day shipping, if you wait until the shipping date you won't be able to extend the date.
Then, after you have corrected the shipping times, contact the customers to warn them of Etsy's mistake, and hope they don't request a cancellation.
That's what I'm dealing with now. most customers are okay, but some are needing to cancel. Thank you for your input. I do hope it isn't deliberate. What a mess!
If Etsy wants to compete with Amazon in this way they are going to have to get a fleet of trucks and warehouses. Etsy should be focusing on their uniqueness which should be their strength. Unfortunately, their recent years decisions have insured they've become similar to other sites.
Hopefully this is an error and not another unwise decision.
I don't have that issue in my shop. But there is something off & has been for some time with the dates Etsy shows on the product page.
I clicked your "Bronze Disc Necklace" & I see "Order today to get by Dec 7-15" . So if you have 1-2 weeks as a processing time, the range they show is wrong.
My items have 1-4 days processing times. But the product pages all show it can be received starting 2 days later as the first date in the range. It's like they are not including the processing times.
I do often ship the same day or next day. So I wonder if they are somehow factoring that into the arrival date range? But they are overriding my processing times.
Have you double checked all of your shipping profiles to make sure nothing is off or got changed?
I have checked them. Yesterday ALL of my listings were switched to a "one day processing" out of the blue. I had to manually change everything. So now even though they all say 1-2 weeks they're still being promised as next day. Thank you for checking for me. That helps me know what customers are seeing.
IF you shipped the next day, and IF shipping only took one day, it could POTENTIALLY arrive in two days. That is how Etsy figures it for the low end of the range. The least amount of time for the processing and shipping ranges. Very unrealistic, and also very deceptive towards the buyers, setting up unrealistic expectations and unnecessary issues with customers.
@dayspringcollectible It is pretty unrealistic for sure. I have definitely had customers get packages 2 days after mailing. But I don't like that Etsy stopped showing the processing times. Lumping it all together is misleading & sneaky.
"That is how Etsy figures it for the low end of the range. The least amount of time for the processing and shipping ranges."
I agree that is can be deceptive and confusing to customers. The way I have found to avoid this is to set the range as the longest for both. For example, 4 days - 4 days or 2 weeks - 2 weeks. So it is not a range and Etsy cannot show only the quickest turnaround time.
You must be using manual shipping. Those choices aren't available with caluclated shipping. They are automatically figured.
For big shops like mine, manual shipping is a strong no-go. With USPS changing shipping rates three times a year now, I could not spend that much time updating shipping costs. Calculated shipping does it automatically.
Ah, you are talking about shipping time. I'm referring to processing time only. I do use calculated shipping, so can't do much about that. I use this for processing time to help set buyer expectations.
Duh! You are using the custom range for processing time and putting in the same number in both boxes. It never occurred to me that would work! So I've just been using the 3-5 day range to provide a bit of cushion, at least.
Yeah, guess I did not explain myself very well - you did a better job of that!
This will not help your issue. I purchased a necklace because: nice styles. Etsy says I'll get it by 12/15 latest. If so, great, otherwise it will be a gift for a later occasion. Cheers.
Wow, I'm so sorry your dealing with this! I clicked on several different listings in your shop, under the Shipping tab they all state "Order today to get by Dec. 13-30th." I'm located in NC.
I think something might have changed. I wish I had kept a record of my EDD's beforehand.
It is currently coming up to 4pm on Dec 6 here in eastern Australia, which is midnight of Dec 5 in New York. I have a 1-2 day processing time and I only ship domestically. All my items are showing an EDD of Dec 8-20 no matter which postcode I enter, even for the other side of the country. I just received an order 20 minutes ago and it is showing Ship by Dec 8. Does that sound right?
