Etsy put my shop on vacation mode

Jump to solution

Today I discovered that Etsy has put my shop on vacation mode, and I got this message:

"To help you manage your current orders and keep your shop in good standing, we’ve temporarily paused your shop. During this time, buyers will see your shop in vacation mode."

Im really annoyed and sad because my shop is really small, and I cant make sells and promote it now.
I had 1 listing and only 2 buyers and all of them are shipped. One of my buyers want to order again and she cant because of this.

Also I had to reupload my ID, because I think there was the problem with the quality or the contents. Now I uploaded a good quality photo with all the address that needed.
I dont know how much time it will take to verify my ID and if that  was the cause  of the suspense of my shop.

you only have 2 orders, and one was overdue, that's a 50% failure rate, so an etsy bot has put you on vacation mode,

The ID will be a separate thing,

You can log a ticket with etsy and ask them to review your shop and take it of vacation

community and help - contact us - keep going until you get to -  I still need help

- In future, make sure your processing time is long enough for you to be able to do the work.

Also, you are in the EU, and don't have any policies, etsy has been warning us about that recently, and you need them for seller protection

more info about what should be in EU policies here

You will have to contact Etsy by email for help.  We are just other sellers and can't do anything for you.

That message sounds like the one shops receive when there are orders either overdue or a huge amount at a time?    Is there a chance there are two different things going on with the ID as well?

Unfortunately, you'll just need to continue to wait for Etsy but if you do have open orders, I'd work on getting those shipped out.

Both of my orders are already on shipped status. My last order was overdue only for 1 day. I dont know how can I contact Etsy. I know that theres a help center/support but it is just Q&A which doesnt have solution for my specific problem. Is there any email contact where I could write for them?

Never let your orders go overdue.

If you must ship late, Etsy has a tool where you can push out the ship-by date, and it notifies the buyer of the delay.  If you had done that, you wouldn't have been dinged.

Etsy looks at risk factors when it evaluates new shops.  You have had 2 flags, that is worrisome to Etsy.  I hope you get it cleared up.

Good luck.

Thank you all for the help.
It has been resolved. It was probably the verification issue, because as soon as my ID was verified my shop was activated again:)

No it was probably that 50% of your orders were past ship date. Make your handling time longer than you think you need to cover yourself. People getting stuff sooner than they expect never got anyone a negative review! Once you know for SURE what the maximum amount of time you need is you can adjust your processing period in your settings.

My shop just was paused as well. I am not sure what the deal is but when you clear the orders does it come back on automatically?

It takes a while, after you have caught up, I've seen sellers say about a week.

If you are shipping late, you have etsy's money, and you are not shipping the goods, etsy takes a very dim view of this, as they are very exposed for the hit, if you do a runner.

You need to extend your processing times, or put your shop on vacation yourself, don't force etsy to make that decision for you - it hits your shop quality score, therefore you placement in searches, and sales

And keep in mind that for verification that an item was actually shipped, Etsy depends on an outside vendor so results may be delayed by a day or two (we often have several orders in the CSV file that show as not shipped even though you can see the tracking on USPS's web site and within a day or two the status changes). Also time zone differences seem to come into play in some Etsy calculations - today to you may be tomorrow or yesterday to Etsy.

Re: Etsy put my shop on vacation mode

Etsy put my shop on vacation mode today as well, but didn't notify me or send any messages/emails to tell me why. I don't know what to do. I contacted Etsy by email since they don't have a phone service anymore, but it says it will take a few days for a response. That could be potentially $1000+ lost depending on how many days. None of my orders are outstanding. I always ship the same days every week.

The only thing I see on my account is that they flagged my Business Information in the Finance section, but I checked it and it's all correct. I even sent documents to support it. The message says this:

"We were unable to verify the business information you entered at onboarding. Please review your business name and any identification numbers closely, make any necessary changes, and re-submit it for verification. You’ll have two re-verification attempts, after which your account will be locked.

If you continue to have trouble, please contact your local tax authority or applicable government entity, where the business is registered, for more assistance."

I have the same message on another one of my Etsy accounts, but not all 3. And the other Etsy accounts are still active. So what the heck is going on? Does anyone have a clue. I'm freaking out. This deactivated Etsy shop is my family's main source of income.

@charmphilosophy

You need to contact Etsy to verify your identity.  Be prepared to wait for a response, as the Forum is flooded with other people fighting with the new Plaid verification.

We are only other sellers here and cannot help you.

@charmphilosophy they do have phone support, I think it's backed up today but you can find it on the  help page, all the way at the bottom click contact Etsy support>seller support>finances and billing> US taxes>scroll to I still need help at the bottom click it and you should see a callback link with a 22 min wait. hope this helps

Unfortunately, I did speak to someone on that call-back phone support. She told me that she couldn't help me, but she would forward the issue to the team who can help. It could take around 5 days to hear back and they do not have phone or chat support. She also told me that my shops are buyer accounts, which is obviously not true. I told her to look up my shops, and she did, and she couldn't explain that. She didn't seem to have any authority to handle problems for sellers, and wanted to transfer me to the buyer account team, which isn't useful obviously.

In terms of verifying my identity, I did that ages ago. My status shows as verified. But I still get the notification at the top of the page saying that they couldn't verify my business details, which are all correct. There was no email or information to say why they put my shop on vacation mode. It only says "to help catch up on orders" which are all caught up, so that's obviously not true.

I spoke to another seller who had this happen to her last year. It took 3 months to get this sorted out, and Etsy finally admitted it was their error. But if they are aware of a bug, shouldn't they have fixed that by now so other sellers aren't constantly encountering the same life-shattering issue? This is unbelievable. If this persists into Nov/Dec, it will amount to around $200,000+ lost revenue. If it comes to that, should I be suing Etsy over this? Or the fact that they don't have a functioning seller support helpline?! They run a business where hundreds of thousands of people rely on them for their sole income, and we can't even get in touch with someone to help us in a timely matter. Something is VERY wrong with that. How is that not a main priority for Etsy? Unreal. This has made me rethink my entire business strategy.

Re: Etsy put my shop on vacation mode

SOLVED: Etsy put my shop on vacation mode without my consent.

I'm following up with the resolution for anyone else who is in this same situation. To recap, I am from BC, Canada, with an incorporated business. My account was flagged with the message: "We were unable to verify the business information you entered at onboarding...
On the surface, all of my previously submitted information appeared correct. However, I misunderstood one thing it was asking for.

It asks for "Business Registration Number." I input my business number which is 9-digits + BC0001. This was incorrect. They are actually asking for your Incorporation Number, which is a 9-digit number on your Certificate of Incorporation, beginning (I assume) with your province, as mu number starts with BC.

I made this change and it solved the issue, and took my shop off of holiday mode.

I hope this helps someone else who has experienced the same issue

The same problem has been going on for two weeks and Etsy keeps saying put the Business Registration number. But in my case, I can't retype the wrong number, so was there any problem with rewriting the number?

They have also paused my shop and I so far have made no sales Amazon must be better than this as no one replied back from Esty to asssit you, purely putting you on pause and not helping you open the shop.
