So they monkeyed around with the messenger and now it is telling me i have 10 messages in orange/unread. I have long since replied to all of these and the sales are all long since completed. Do I really need to bother all 10 of these people so I don't get docked on my Star Seller?
If you click on the individual messages, the orange signs will disappear. As the messages appear in 'messenger', rather than 'messages', I doubt it will affect your SS stats.
Oh my goodness, all of my messages are replied to. I have had a 100% reply rate since the begining of Star Seller.
Now its showing that I have 111 messages that are unread!
When I click on the leave feedback, or see whats new button... it takes me to google docs and then says I don't have permission to view, what is going on??
It is beyond me, but I wish Etsy would remember: "If it ain't broke, Don't fix it!"
yes, I had the Google Docs situation too, with a 'you don't have permission to view this.'
Come on etsy, stop f-ing around and testing on a live site. My sales have been in the toilet the past week or so, and things like this don't really help.
I just want everyone to know that I lost my star seller because I chose not to respond to the glitch “unread” messages. It took my response rate from 100% to 86% and now I only have 2 of the silly badges. I am so sad.
They did that to me too. I always respond to my messages in a timely manner and always had star seller rating but now this month I don't because of their glitch. Now what? I wish they'd leave this stuff alone.
For mine, I just clicked on each of the 8 messages etsy had marked as 'unread' (which I had already responded to when they originally came in), the orange dot went away, and my Star Seller totals are the same as before, 100% response rate.
I wish I would have done this!
I did click on them but I still didn't keep my star seller that I had all month long.
I would say better reply to the messages again just in case.
Since you've replied to them before, maybe this time just some greeting messages including the coupon code or some sales information.
This happened to me , but it was messages I had marked as spam.
I had the star seller since they rolled it out and honestly this just goes to show how silly of a program it is, when people do everything right- it still doesn't matter if Etsy decides it's time to mess around. This, in addition to the fee increases, has me losing interest in the whole thing again.
@MoonLakeShop I see your Thread is dated Tuesday. That is the date this Announcement came out (re: changes Etsy plans on implementing to the SS Program. (One of them is "bundling" Messages).
https://community.etsy.com/t5/Announcements/Updates-to-the-Star-Seller-Program/td-p/138636090
On Tuesday, shortly after I read this Announcement, there were multiple Threads where (like you), people were getting Orange Dots, which made it look like they had Messages they never responded to (and they did). Within these dots were numbers; some had over 100. This came on suddenly. (I didn't have any Messages, but saw all these Threads about the Orange Dot).
At the same time, inside our Shop Manager in the Left Column, there was "Messages" and underneath that "Messenger". (I had this in my Shop Manager). I clicked onto "Messenger" and it said "No new Messages"; along with "New Messages will appear here".
Sellers were concerned about these Orange Dots to Messages they DID answer to (understandably so; their Shop is live and you don't want to miss any new Messages). Some Sellers were saying they discovered as a workaround, to click on every Message and the Orange Dot would go away.
Approx. an hour later, maybe less (can't remember exactly), the Orange dots went away. And "Messenger" vanished from inside the Shop Manager (leaving only "Messages" as before). So something went amok at that time, and I believe it was due to Etsy testing this "bundling" of Messages.
Hope this helps.
