hello since when does etsy call anyone. I was hacked on the 26th and don't trust any phone call people
As far as I know they only call when you request a call back from support.
when on earth did they start doing this and how long does it take
i've been hacked by phone and you want me to pick up a call from a number I don't know
No idea. Never had to request a call back from them myself.
I don't 'want' you to do anything. I only tried giving you an answer to your question.
In my experience, the call back is often almost immediate, or at least usually within half an hour. I've only used it a few times, but they have been extremely helpful and knowledgeable when I did. It's only available in the US and has been available for quite a while now.
and you picked up without knowing the number that's risky real risky
if they are a hacker that intercepted etsy you're really in big trouble with your phone
I had requested the call moments before, so yes, I picked it up. The Caller ID said Etsy. You should do what works for you. The call back function has worked well for me, and I will continue to use it.
As I said: You do you. I always do me. I'm not at all concerned about taking a call that I requested.
well I hope you're not doing me. Let a hacker get a hold of your phone. If it's a new phone you have no sim card. Sim card change out makes it a new phone
@ChristmasIsLove Request a Callback is available outside the US and I (in Australia) can access it outside Etsy Time Business Hours (Brooklyn). In my experience, if the service is offered, an estimated wait time is given and I have found this estimation to be very accurate.
The call ID is clearly Etsyand the caller identifies themselves at the start.
Seriously it said Etsy...well let me tell you what just happened to me on the 26th I called Amazon it said Amazon guess what I got a hacker. Took control of my phone. Thank goodness I have a SIM phone all I had to do is change the card bam a new phone.
No one has called YET PEOPLE
it sounds like you are getting upset at the people in the forum who are just answering your question.
no one is forcing you to answer your phone.
if you did not request the call... then do not answer it.
i would answer it but i am not you.
i even answer when it says *scam likely* because many times it is not and i let the people calling know their number is showing up as a scam so they can fix it.
block the number if you want.
or do not block it.
do what makes you feel not so stressed out about it.

If you use the Etsy call back option you are asking them to call back, you are not picking up a random call. As you say, you switched to a new sim, so you basically have a brand new phone now. The chances of a hacker working out the new sim number before Etsy calls you back are slim. If you are not prepared to trust that, why bother with a new sim? Just throw the phone away, and the internet too while you are at it, you're even more likely to get hacked online than on your phone. Of course that will make it hard to run an online shop.
There is no point getting snarly with those who are trying to offer solutions. It just guarantees they won't bother offering next time.
@ChristmasIsLove I don’t think the call back option is just limited to the US. I’ve successfully used it twice (in Canada).
@WildCoyoteCollection "Etsy makes phone calls now since when?" Well, I have been here since 2016 and I have often requested and received a "Call Back". The process has changed over this time, but the service is the same. The only main change is that for many of us the Support people are not located in the US, but that is also a bonus as they seem to be working whrn US Suport reps are asleep.
If you are mistrustful of a "Call Back", then do not request one. Use the "Chat" or "Email" option
If you don't want to answer the phone simply don't request a call back...really easy solution. I did ask for a call back recently and was called within minutes.
Paranoia will destroy you..!
