I have some customers that i know. They purchased my digital items. But the orders always cancelled by Etsy. Also my customers received email that says Why did this happen? There are a few possible reasons. The shop may be temporarily unable to accept orders or there may have been an issue processing the payment. How can i solve this problem ?
I've just tried to purchase and there doesn't appear to be a checkout issue .
Did the people try to buy through your desktop device , or do they share the same IP ? . If so this isn't allowed Etsy see this as shilling and can get your shop closed
Just my opinion, but at your price point, it would seem to me that they would be doing you a favor.
This ^^^^^^^
Geez......why would anyone list something for 24 cents when right off the top it's going to cost 20 cents just for the listing fee?
ONLY leaves 4 cents to pay for ALL the other fees you owed.
The OP will lose money on every, single sale.
No doubt that is why Etsy is cancelling all those sales.
A sale doesn't even cover the fees that are owed.
When it was 3 dollar, the same thing happened
@HazelsSewingSupplies is right and although I've never heard of this issue before, your price might be too low for a transaction to be accepted.
The listing fee was 20 cents. Your listing is 24 cents.
Etsy fees are 6.5% of your price.
Credit card transaction fees are 3% plus 25 cents.
There is not enough money in the price to cover the 25 cents of the credit card transaction fee.
You and Etsy would be selling at a loss. Every transaction would cost Etsy and you money.
Raise your prices so you at least cover the fees and see what happens.
i tried it at higher prices
@KeremFirat: "i tried it at higher prices" And what happened?
Turkish sellers pay higher commissions.
%6.5 Etsy fee
%6.5 Etsy payments
%1.1 operation fee
20 Cent
100% agree with you @GlassyFields
that will be exactly why they are cancelling each sale
Definitely need to raise prices. Research and see what your competitors are charging as well.
I would say that most likely since your price point is low and Etsy is cancelling right away that those are scam attempts to see if the credit card is working. Scammers look for low price points to check cards and since you are a new shop, unfimished, they think you are an easy target,
Etsy will not tell you why they are cancelling. That is a privacy issue between buyer and Etsy.
What is Google sheets? Do you need a license to use it?
It might be an Etsy system cancelling ... it could also be the financial Payment Processing system. Not sure who 'owns' or runs that - could be Etsy, could be a bank or credit card company.
And yes ... payment processing fees vary in in different places ... make sure you know what the payment processing fee is where you live.
Since you're selling budget planning spreadsheets it should be straightforward for you to create a pricing spreadsheet for yourself. (I've created and tweaked mine over years in order to factor in all my costs and price my items).
Let us know how it goes.
I love your banner by the way.
Finish your shop, add more listings. Good luck.
I just purchased your listed download. There was no problem with either the purchase or the download. Although your listing's price is now AU$2.28, it still seems a little low and you would probably be better off increasing the price again by at least a dollar.
Etsy cancelled my order which was placed by my friend through the direct link. I still don’t understand why would that be the case and if that is not accepted why is this option given to share with family and friends
@IwinDigiCreations: Unlikely the order not going through had anything to do with the link unless they identified the transaction as a possible shill order (order using the same computer / IP address that you are using, etc).
Why Etsy (actually usually their payment processor) denies / cancels an order can vary.
In very simple terms, there are two points where an order may be 'cancelled'. The first is before the order is even accepted - usually an invalid card number or expiration date, insufficient funds, bad security code, etc. You could be having hundreds of those every day and would not even know it. The second is after the order has been accepted but has not yet been fully approved by the payment processor - generally flagged by the payment processor's fraud detection algorithm and showing to you as 'pending'.
For legal reasons Etsy cannot tell you why the order was cancelled. Only the buyer can get that information from Etsy or their payment processor.
this thread was posted by someone no longer selling here,
why would your friend buy through etsy, they know what you sell, they can buy it cheaper straight from you
